Wingless f1

How about a wingless open wheel series of racing with similar power to weight as motogp?
Also, similar race length without tyre change or refuel - ragged edge missiles.

To me that would be nirvana.

that would include ground effect I assume, how long would the vehicle be do you think?

Controlled ground effect could do the trick, maybe ? Or if you are talking about the risks of losing all downforce because of a kerb, that's another problem, but the huge kerbs was more a thing of the 1970s to the 1990s. Now all kerbs are pretty much flat (unfortunately).

Maybe a bit of ground effect, bit sort of more along the lines of a late 60's style with modern engineering, odd bang motor.
Something that squirms on the track like a motogp, prob the wheelbase, weightbalance similar to now.

The fia should run a paralell series like this, and i wouldnt mind betting it would become bigger than f1.

its been said before... but the problem is that with no (or little) downforce it would be way slower than the current F1.... that instantly makes it less attractive to the casual viewer... Personally I recommend everyone go watch Formula Ford or Caterham superlights; great racing (MotoGP is boring my comparison), but its not that fast....

Without the speed, the racing becomes a whole let less exciting. Overtaking at slow speeds are pretty ordinary

Videos of pre-68 F1 seem pretty exciting to me.

Spot on Pup! Fighting for traction like the motorbikes, the wings are amazing and progressive, but it takes away much of the craft of driving with a big vacuum effect pulling the car onto the road.

I am not anti f1, i feel there should be both kinds of high powered racing.

Narain Karthikeyan is just as good as Fernando Alonso in a flat out corner. Cut the DF and you'll see more corners where drivers can make a difference.

When was the last time you've seen overtaking in a fast corner in F1? (DRS passes don't count obviously)
The one I can think of is almost a year ago.

Man I could not agree more. Then we would see who would go flat through Eau Rouge.

I meant more under braking than through corners. With no down force, the braking duels would be really slow. Some people might not mind that, but I love watching the cars dart out of the slip stream at the last minute and then pull 3-4G braking manoeuvres.
