Fernando Alonso has won the German GP after leading every single lap of the race. The Spaniard start from pole, and while being under threat, he was never passed. Sebastian Vettel finished in second place while Jenson Button is third. Their result though is still under investigation, as Vettel's passing move was a little dubious.
I'm just saying that I see no relation between the the article 5.5.3. and supposedly low torque engine map AND an aero benefit that the delegate is suggesting, if at top power range you want to reduce the torque output for whatever reason (car stability or even reliability of the engine or the gearbox), you do that by altering the spark timing by timing it later, but you cannot get any more air/fuel in there (more than in the max torque setting) by just holding the throttle open wider, the amount of air the engine can pass is limited by the engines mechanical design as far as I know
but lets see how this unfolds and hopefully get more technical details about what they actually did and how they could benefit from it
They have been cleared, what a joke...a Technical delegate being ignored by race stewards who have basically no engineering background.

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.
Article 5.5.3 says that “The maximum accelerator pedal travel position must correspond to an engine torque demand equal to or greater than the maximum engine torque at the measured engine speed. The minimum accelerator pedal travel position must correspond to an engine torque demand equal to or lower than 0Nm.
I see MAX, I see MIN, I don't see any reference to MID. Genius.
So if they have been cleared does that mean they can run this new map in the race? I hope they are protested at the end of the race. Im certain RB knew what they were doing and that it is illegal. It makes you wonder how they are getting away with infringements with no punishments time after time.
Anyway, someone just posted that the Bulls pace in the dry wasn't too convincing, so let's hope FA wins and we get schumi/kimi plus a Mclaren on the podium.
I'm not a fan of Hamilton (I am quite the opposite), but you are starting from the back of the grid when you don't have enough fuel in the car after quali and you don't get any penalty after numerous controversies with holes in the floor and engine mapping. I am curious about the analysis method used by the stewards, because I assume the FIA delegate is a person who is well-aware of the rules and engineering and a report like this wouldn't be made just to write a piece of paper.
The bulls on the podium today, that's my prediction. And if not, some well-placed post race penalties will get them in top 3.

Where does it say the torque must match a certain % at 50% throttle, for example. It doesn't. It only states the maximum and minimum requirements, which I'm sure RBR comply with. Awesome stuff. Beautifully read and exploited while everyone else sleeps, and people call them cheats???
I cant believe that the RBR gets away with this!
Everybody talked about the regulation before the 2012 season started. Ross Brawn for instance and lot's of others told the press they were worried about the rules for engine mapping.
FIA wouldnt allow engine mapping or blowing the diffuser.
Well Done FIA, i guess they are addicted to Red Bull

At the end of the day maybe it's also about having a good will to compete and to win by your own capability of making a good car, not by reading the rules sideways or backwards to try and find a breach you can take advantage of.
