How far ? Alonso start 10th and then finish on the podium. DId you watch the race?
Sure, the point being made was that they were 10 seconds back for the bulk of the race. Come the end though, they were 20-25 back. The car isn't looking after the tyres as well as the McLaren or Sauber.
Hamilton was in clean air while Alonso never. With Pirelli tyres, it's make a huge difference.

Great drive by LH in the best car on the day. 8)

Overall a good race even though it was slightly blemished by Vettels drive through though. What a stupid partisan decision. Alonso whining like a baby must have roused the stewards out of their socks. Vettel had a great race up until retiring.he did exactly the same to Vettel last year but Vettel had the ability to keep two wheels on the track. If Alaonso wanted to he could have done the same but went wider than he had to.

Sorry for Button though...hard luck.

Sergio driver of the day...shows what an important role tyres can play. Well done 8)

Generally I don't care about what people say. I have to be clear with myself. When everything goes well, people celebrate you, when you make mistakes people criticize you.

That Sauber is awesome on its tyres. May not have the outright pace, but kudos to them for making these lengthy stints work.
Red Bull where all at sea today, a marked difference from 12 months ago. Mercedes seemed to throw it away but made good gains in the final third of the race, the car is almost the complete opposite of the Sauber. Hard on tyres but has awesome pace when all the stars are aligned. McLaren will be happy enough, but Button's DNF will sour Hamiltons lights to flag victory...somewhat.

Driver of the day has to be Checo Perez, and team has to be Sauber.

Lasst year he puts Vettel off the track This Vettel repays the favour and he cries to the stewards. Coward!
I agree, this is one of the reasons why at times I cannot take to him.

Yup, that was the point. Alonso lost about 8 seconds to Hamilton over the last stint, despite Hamilton cruising for much of it. Massa lost around 17 seconds over that stint. Another lap or two and Massa would have probably lost a place to Raikkonen and Schumacher.

Yeah Alonso drove a great race and had a very strong first stint, but after they pitted for tyres they didn't seem to have a huge amount of pace and really tailed off at the end of the stint.

These boo's are rather distasteful; he just complimented the crowd. Why do they insist on boo'ing?

That's the tiffosi for them – that's why I always wondered why everyone called them the best fans.

Disgusting penalty for VET.
I did not miss Grosjean.
Perez for president.
Alonso, best driver but sissy crybaby.
FIA stewards fail.
Nice race.
Booing crowd: Vaffanculo!
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

The rules change this year, all driver have TO LEAVE SPACE to the others car. Alonso was right to whining, Vettel have just to respect the rule

Argh, epic fail, you've already been shown to be wrong on this. Again, no drivers do not. The only time they must leave a full car width is when returning to the racing line after defending a position. Otherwise the rules re driving another driver off track are unchanged in 2012.

I thought the SPA crowd was better. The fantastic cheer for Kimi was really memorable.
