Just bad losers really. I was at Silverstone in 2011 and Alonso was applauded and fans were disappointed but accepted that the best driver on the day won.
this year at Silverstone Alonso was booed. Anyway if the poster on Autosport forum say the truth, it's a huge disgrace.

"Then there was the incident when Fernando went off the track in his duel with Vettel: once the telemetry was working again, we spotted there was something not quite right at the rear, so in the final laps, we asked him to be cautious, avoiding the kerbs. When the car was in parc ferme, I have to say we could see the damage was quite bad, also affecting the aerodynamics."

Pat Fry. So it seems Alonso was lucky to finish

As for the 23.5 ??? no a f-ing chance. Showed no pace in the race ? so dream on Fernando , dream on
No, but how could you expect them to be quiet. I assure you, there are very few people who wouldn't react the same way if he had done to their teams' drivers what he has (more often than he didn't) do to Scuderia's drivers since he's been around... Italians remember, they rarely forgive. You've all seen The Godfather, right? :)

As for race pace, it's impossible to compare them, they had diametrically different races. FP times tell the story, and those were close... take into account Massa-slingshot effect - voila. I'm done here. :)
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Button was greeted quite well last two years... Also, put yourselves in their position, your driver gets a mechanical failure in qualifying, starts 10th and ends up on a podium, while the other guy gets pole and has absolutely no trouble getting the win. They felt cheated, especially considering Alonso stated they were chasing 1:23.5 in Q3... That's 0.5s faster than Lewis. In their heads, Lewis was the embodiment of all the bad luck. Taking those two things into account, still surprised? And that's not even mentioning their national pride, the special atmosphere they make... Nobody makes greater noise than the Tifosi in F1 world and they are the best fans by far in that department...
You're not being serious surely; this gives a motive to be racist?! Racism is zero tolerance in all sports, for a damn good reason.

Its not about being quiet, booing is one thing but monkey chants are a completely different thing. Its pure racism and its unacceptable and I hope but doubt the FIA will investigate.

The crowed were in quite a good mood if I remember, I was sitting at Stowe A, and the crowed loved Webber winning. Alonso didnt get booed on the podium ? I got up to the track looking towards the podium, and If there were and booing it would have been individuals. Booing someone who didnt win a race is a damn site better than Racially abusing the winner!

You are aware Its a TV show that isnt real, Its made to come across as comical, and they have scripts to follow. You could almost say they are acting and joking. If it was a comedian doing a stand up, it wouldnt have been a problem, why ? Its no different. They didnt have bad intent, it was a joke.

Racism abusing is worse, and if the poster said the truth ( i insist with the IF, because we have NO proof, and i don't think the media and especially the british media would say nothing if it was the true but anyway... ) it's a shame.

But booing someone is bad too, it show a poor fair play. Just bad loosers like you say.

I'm not a Hamilton fan, but i think he handle the situation like a true champion today. He was badly booed, and he even talk in italian and he had thanks the crowd. Really, he was super class on the podium.

There are good taste jokes and bad taste jokes but still racist comments. I know it is a program. I am using as an example to show that probably a minority of Silverstone audience is racist using good taste jokes as in Monza there is a minority of racists using bad taste jokes, but they are at the end the same. Racist!

This thread is temporarily closed. If we can get further confirmation of the events described by the OP, who we suspect is not being entirely honest with the opening post, the thread will be re-opened.
We didn't have the confirmation of these racism chant, so i don't think it's good enough to talk about it..

Well, either way the truth will come out soon enough.

More about the race maybe ?

Has anyone heard what happened to Vergne ? It looked like a part failure, but Ted was saying he was told by the Team that they were blaming driver error ?
