with the supplied tub having a set wheel base would it not be a good idea to include the engine, gearbox and plank so they are all in the correct place?
Looking forward to the test race and have a car ready to go. 8)

the pack doesn't come with the plank at the moment does it? Forgot about that going to have to make it. But yes, you might as well include the gearbox, engine etc in the supplied tub
I know Nick tried to get version 1 out quick though so version 2 might include it. They will need to be supplied separate though for people making there own tub as well. We will also be getting the fuel tank as well though

btw, we will be removing the engine and fuel tank anyway when we send them to race? Are they just being used for space guidance?

Hi,

Yes I rushed out V1, there is no rush with V2 as this track coming up is just for bragging rights basically, and for us to check everything, also Julien has done a writeup as a starting point (featuring images of my car + data) :)

just showing that we are still here and listening :)

Yeah, very good.

What's impressive with your Design Nick is how well balanced it is right out of the box: 45:55ish front:rear is pretty close to the mass distribution. More downforce overall would be good of course, =P~

I hope everyone is taking note of those for their designs!

yeah its quite nice, it means it is pretty quick round the track, but I have done CFD before on a previous design and found I lacked rear downforce, so I worked on balance a lot and I have learned a lot,

and to the drivers helmet, this simulation was done without drivers helmet, however will be added for your simulations (remember I did rush out V1 and this was done as a test for the whole concept of the challenge)

thought this might have been the case.
what will be the method for submitting cars?? will there be somewhere to upload them?

only 1 month to go to the test race. looking forward to competing. =D>

Nick, interesting that your show car seems to behave almost the same with and without 3 degrees of yaw. Did you pay any attention to flow in yaw when designing the car?
Rivals, not enemies. (Now paraphrased from A. Newey).

how did you work out those figures? using the COP?

Yeah, The centre of Pressure datum is the front wheel centre-line, so simply divide the COP position by the wheelbase (3.4) multiplied by 100 gives you the rear % downforce... in this case around 45:55, with slight movement based on speed and yaw....

You'll need a CFD plugin.... or does the latest Solidworks have CFD capability built in? Probably the best way is to get a copy of Khamsin and do the CFD analysis using Google Sketch model in same way as the championship organisers....?

Well November is upon us and that means we're only a few weeks away from the test race! How is everyone's cars coming along?
