I do not have a link and was commenting on the statement, not who said it. To remove that confusion, I have reworded my suggestion to remove that reference:

So the 'Americas' in Circuit of the Americas, is plural, more than one - North America & South America = Americas. There is no United States of Americas - it's singular, America. So the plural must represent something, or why use it?

What do you think the 'Americas' is referring too?

I think it is a clever marketing ploy
No one except private U.S. citizens and government entities within the US funded this; specifically Texans. I also think as always The U.S. welcomes all visitors and treats them with respect. But you are dreaming if the inaugural USGP @ Austin is in some way going to have a non partisan as its "official Homer"
Perhaps I'm wrong, please provide some evidence and I will gladly admit it.

Oh please, less politic talk and more race predictions.

Can't wait till qualifying. I don't know about the slow corners, but there seems to be 3 of them, leading on to flat out sections or straights.
I would go as far to say, Red bull + Hamilton top 3 in no specific order.

With a fair chance of rain I think it is a little early to predict how quali will go

No.

Our home race could only be in Mexico. No other country could host our home race.

The Vice President of the Circut of the Americas said Perez is the home driver here since its a track meant to represent The AMERICAS.. That's not my opinion they said it and for the record IDE love to see the Mexico Grand Prix take place..
No worries. It's coming.

I don't know where you are from, but a driver from Jalisco Mexico would not be accepted in any formal or semi formal way in the State of Texas as it's home driver period.
Both Sexton and, before him, have spoken this way of COTA being a home track for Latin drivers. No link. Too lazy right now.

Also, practically every F1 fan I know of around here is speaking of Perez as the home driver and anticipating the entrance of Gutierrez next year.

Turn 15 is also slow...maybe the slowest of all.

From what I can see, Hairy Scotsman has the been THE man (or woman) on the ground during this entire build. Every post is full of spot on photos, facts, copies of documents, behind the scenes information and generally everything he's said on this thread has been well received from the other members. His reputation precedes him, so it's worthwhile respecting his views and his word - hence the 17 beside his name.

Regardless of the link or whether anyone even said that statement or not, it's crystal clear what the "Americas' stands for, so there's no need to act like that. It's also really not constructive. Why don't you prove otherwise that the circuit has no ties (in any respect) to all the Americas, both north and south. Seriously.....

I never said it didn't have a tie to this hemisphere, only that Perez' home race is not in Austin Texas?
Why not Maldonado my young friend.
I've yet to see anything to change my mind :P

To be honest, a race is what you make it.

Drivers call certain races their "home" race because they feel emotionally connected to the venue, or they have the country name on their passport. If someone says "this will be Perez's home race" - but Perez doesn't *feel* it is - then it doesn't really make a difference what the other person says, does it?
