Interlagos and Montreal are also American venues. One tends to forget that.

It´s not, not even in North America :)

Maybe you miss-understood me but surely instead of having two GP´s with the same name they could switched the names.

New Jersey - American GP
Circuit of Americas - United States GP

-
New Jersey - United States GP
Circuit of Americas - American GP
I think it's because Austin was set as the US GP, then Bernie had the idea to come up with New Jersey. As one country can only have one GP New Jersey had to become the American GP (continent), as it was with Barcelona (Spanish GP) and Valencia (European GP) or Suzuka (Japanese GP) and Aida (Pacific GP).

One can understand some trouble with the naming, because the people in power decided to name the circuit in Austin "Circuit Of The Americas", but that's political and marketing reasons, I guess. COTA wants to attract as many people and racing series as they could and the Formula One Management wants to step in again on the US market solely.

So you can't switch names as you want, because marketing was well under way long ago ...

I'm interested to know what the other countries on the American continents had to do with the circuit. Seems to me to be similar to "World Series Baseball" which has nothing to do with anything outside of the states except for the name.

...After that, the hard part is done and the rest of the lap - in this game - is pretty easy. With that said watching the real life on board with D'Ambrosio the designers have changed the track to make it more tricky in the 2nd and 3rd sector...
Watching the onboard, I was thinking that if they had made the run from T12 to T13 about 40-50 metres longer (which would also add length to the run down to T15) it might make for some interesting gearing and braking issues for both T13 and T15. Both turns would be effected, but T15 could cause lockups or switchbacks, in that way kinda like a suzuka hairpin, but with a little more room. Thanks for your thoughts... I find this a really interesting circuit and can't wait to see how it plays out.

Edit: corrected an error, stated T14 when I meant T13

Yea thanks for those,

And here they are...the notorious speed bumps.. i guess it´s nice they left some of the curb to attack but i would rather have seen astro-turf on that red stripe closest to the road.

my prediction: 99.9% of the American population will watch the final race of the Nascar season. In my opinion this was not a good decision

I think it's more likely that Mercedes wins this race. A significant portion of the population here is not into NASCAR and viewer numbers have been dwindling each year recently. I think going head to head with the NFL on Sun is a bigger issue.

I think 99.9% of Nascar fans will watch the Nascar race, but I think F1 is aiming for a different market so there will be plenty of eyes on the race. In general F1 fans don't have much time for Nascar and Nascar fans don't have much time for F1.

Anyway, who cares, track looks epic. Looking forward to this one.

I'm one of those who will watch just about anything with wheels. If shopping cart(trolley) racing was on TV I'd likely be watching it lol. That said if I could watch this weekend my hat would be in the F1 ring. I was so excited to see this race but now I won't be able to. Maybe I can catch the reair.

Maybe you're right. They have had the opportunity to watch the 18 races before. So if they are now not f1 fans now, they will never be f1 fans. I hope that many people will visit the race. But next year they should make it at another day, because some Nascar fans will watch F1 even it is new for them
