Renault Sport F1 wrote:The biggest challenge for engine engineers is between turns 5 and 8 where there are several high speed changes of direction. In fact the three turns from 5 to 7 are where teams will establish the minimum oil level required for the race. Temps are still very cold out there, the tyres are harder to warm up but the engine produces more power. In fact the low humidity and low temperatures make the engine produce arguably the most power we have seen this season. Track is still very slippery, which actually challenges the engine side more as it puts an emphasis on driveability. The drivers are therefore sensitive to very small deviations in the engine feel.
watching Jenson, the car looks good on these hard tyres. I can see Vettel eating up the middle and last sector.Forza wrote:FP3 Onboard stream speed tv onboard
Will be interesting to see how all their styles work in terms of tyre wear.JimClarkFan wrote:watching Jenson, the car looks good on these hard tyres. I can see Vettel eating up the middle and last sector.Forza wrote:FP3 Onboard stream speed tv onboard
Lewis looks better, interesting how he angles the car differently to jenson to allow him to get on the power earlier. Also a lot more aggressive over corners.
Less life/more wear, they are sliding all over the place because there is no grip.GrizzleBoy wrote:Will be interesting to see how all their styles work in terms of tyre wear.JimClarkFan wrote:watching Jenson, the car looks good on these hard tyres. Do new tracks give more or less life to tyres?
what tyre? medium surely?WhiteBlue wrote:Vettel 1:36.49!!!!
My experience with new track surfaces in the US is more life and less wear / fall off... and that indeed, track starts very low grip and gradually gets better as its run in.JimClarkFan wrote:Less life/more wear, they are sliding all over the place because there is no grip.GrizzleBoy wrote:Will be interesting to see how all their styles work in terms of tyre wear.JimClarkFan wrote: watching Jenson, the car looks good on these hard tyres. Hamilton seems to have a fair wack of understeer at turn 1. Button locking inside wheel too. Have yet to see the red bulls onboard.
What do you mean goes out and bang? He, Hamilton and Webber went out at the same time, with about 9 minutes to go.Sevach wrote:Maldonado was sideways in every corner of the final sector and still managed that time.
Vettel's Red Bull looks the easiest to drive by a wiiiiiide margin.
Plus everyone else has to put a number of laps even on the options to find some grip, Vettel just goes out and bang.
The pole looks like it's his to loose.
