If Vettel gets away safely in the first lap, than that's another WDC in his bag.

Good job Michael. Grosjean has a 5 place grid drop penalty so 5-9 places move up one position. Kimi ends up on 4th behind Webber (who messes up the starts), hope he has and Abu Dhabi-ish start.

I think Ferrari should sort out their team and some heads have to roll out of Maranello.

"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Why does Vettel want to sound like he's English?

McLaren have to ask themsyelves who out of of Button and Perez are going to be able to do this for them in the next few years.
this is true. Perez 0.8 slower than in FP3. Maybe he should fire his race engineer. And Pirelli has to make tyres with a larger window.
Perez has been flattered by the tyres this year. Early on when he looked like the next big thing, he was just a good driver who was able to get more out of the tyres through being smooth and gentle with them when other drivers were struggling to keep the tyres in their operating window. Had they all been running on Bridgestone tyres, for example, then I don't think he would have caught anyones eye as he would have just been another mid pack runner. Now the teams have managed to get on top of the Pirellis, and they have been tending to bring their harder compounds to the races, we see Perez's advantage wiped out and he looks average again.

Next year McLaren have a good shot at starting with the best car, given the little tweaks to the rules taking away Red Bull's advantages. But that's going to be squandered on two driver's who whilst good, are simply not of quite the calibre as Hamilton, Alonso and to an ever so slightly lesser extent Vettel.
This season was dominated by the tyre gambling IMO. Williams is thinking they have a better car than at the last years because they once had a lucky setup. Sauber is thinking this, too. The differences between the team mates were massive in every team (McLaren, RB, Ferrari, FI, Mercedes, Sauber, Williams). This year has shown who had the best race engineer. IMO the engineer who makes the Setup from Vettel is the best of all.

Now to Perez: He is not that good. He had bit luck with the setup. So he looked quite good in some races. The behavior in battles with other drivers is more than worse. Pirelli made Perez and Maldonado looking good. I really hope for tyres with a larger window for next year

If I'm suggesting that Massa's style may have helped him then that is giving him credit, isn't it? But that's 17-2 to Alonso in qualifying, so it's not surprising that people would find it unusual.

Schumi's still got it, undoubtedly. He's always been able to find grip in places where others haven't, it's typified his career in the wet. Shame to see him go.

Your problem is that you are associating who wins the WDC as being an indication of who has been the best driver over the course of the year. The notion of most deserving driver requires a judgement based on relatives vs absolutes, i.e who has performed the best over the year with the materials they have been given to work with...that is clearly Alonso.

You obviously are incapable of making such a distinction but know there are others in this world who can...

thus the basis for this article

I can't say I'm a huge Alonso fan either but I'm getting bored of Vettel. Pole, yomp away at the start, yawn!
But if alonso does it, then its ok? double standards all the way.

I think the tyres being so conservative, they had to do a lot of laps to warm them up. First laps were always slowish and they got faster gradually as the tyres came up to temperature.

Well ,very interesting starting grid. Tomorrow we will see if Fernando is really a good driver or not. Curiously, he qualified behind Felippe for the most important race in the season so far...
