Heh, I didn't see you crying foul on Ferrari after this vile conpiracy theory (in your own words so you must have disapproved) became reality. :pJersey Tom wrote:I see it as removing 5 from Massa and giving 1 to Alonso. Rumors are just that. I think the most likely scenario is they had to change a gearbox.. so they did. And that's that. That it happened to play out beneficially for Alonso I think is coincidence.
But of course it's more entertaining to jump to conclusions of unsportsmanlike conduct / conspiracy / manipulation, blah blah blah.
To be fair, Vettel has a WDC on the line along with all the trappings that go with it - including being written into the history books, probably significant income, sponsorship deals, bonuses, F1 legend status etc, the list goes on. It was far more than loosing one place at race. One can only imagine the immense pressure he and Alonso are under, plus they have to actually drive a car flat-out and still be a race driver. Put anyone in that situation and let's see how they react. Hows about we cut these guys some slack, they are human after all and no-one is perfect.Joie de vivre wrote:Vettel can be more than happy to finish second. Had it been Red Bull, there would have been 20 pages of angry posts, allegations of cheating, 'spirit of the rules', FIA rule changes and full page write ups on every major motoring journal.... funny how people are so selective.Domenicali pointed out that Ferrari was at least honest.
"We could have easily simulated something but we wanted to be completely transparent. If another team boss said we did not make the right decision, he's lying."
Indeed, Domenicali said Ferrari made the decision so late in the day because there were rumours Red Bull was ready to respond by breaking into Mark Webber's gearbox.
"That's part of the strategic decisions. It's part of the game," he insisted.
It is not entirely clear what part of the overtake he was calling stupid from what was broadcast, but FOM cut one line out of Vettel's message that would have made it clear and which explains why TV stations were saying he was referring to Karthikeyan.Poleman wrote:This is also true,i was watching SKY and they said it was for Karthikeyan as well but they are obviously wrong...The audio was quite clearraymondu999 wrote:It was said in quite a few different places though that he was referring to Karthikeyan holding him up in T7 rather than of Hamilton's overtake.
I'll attempt a guess on this one. Red Bull set their cars up to be slower at top speed, but to get to that top speed quickly. So even though other cars are faster at the top end, the Red Bull is already down the road. We saw this with Hamilton where Vettel could hold him off in the DRS zone. Vettel simply pulls away and gets to his top speed faster than what Hamilton can get to his top speed. If the straights were longer, this tactic would not work for Red Bull, however, to date, its worked quite well in most circumstances.Ral wrote:How did Vettel manage to quite consistently drive faster S2 times than Hamilton, while the McLaren had a higher top speed? Was that all down to (if so, obviously much) better traction out of t9?
I don't think it's the race win perse. But as pretty much everyone thinks, the only realistic way he can lose the WDC in Brazil is by reliability issues, which is a real fear. If those 7 points would have made the difference when something outside his control takes the WDC from him, it'd be pretty aggrivating for even Kimi.Cam wrote:To be fair, Vettel has a WDC on the line along with all the trappings that go with it - including being written into the history books, probably significant income, sponsorship deals, bonuses, F1 legend status etc, the list goes on. Why would Vettel be upset with a rule that has, thanks to the Red Bull DDRS, put them back on pole and back to winning races?n smikle wrote:Vettel is clearly annoyed of the DRS rules.

He likes the DRS device it self, but not the rules. I know he would love it if he could use it anytime.Cam wrote:Why would Vettel be upset with a rule that has, thanks to the Red Bull DDRS, put them back on pole and back to winning races?n smikle wrote:Vettel is clearly annoyed of the DRS rules.

Monaco last year was realllly close, but that was more wondering if his tires were going to explode (before the red flag ).n smikle wrote:Vettel: "unbelievable how formula 1 is these days with these stupid overtakes!"

Vettel is clearly annoyed of the DRS rules. Was his anger born from the stress of being in DRS range for so many laps? I bet he has never been chased so closely for so many laps before.
