If you assume Button and Rosberg are about as good as each other (probably not unreasonable), Hamilton might be even further ahead... Of course, then his tyres would be trashed in 3 and a half laps during the race.Joie de vivre wrote:Button behind Mercedes. McLaren will struggle next year.
He drove his fastest lap with somewhat lesser downforce level. His rear wing angle at that moment was lesser than Lewis'.Joie de vivre wrote:Button behind Mercedes. McLaren will struggle next year.
And we don't know the fuel level. But I agree that McLaren will not have the best drivers next year. But maybe they will make Perez fast or the tyres are suiting Button better. At least i hope so........Vanja #66 wrote:He drove his fastest lap with somewhat lesser downforce level. mclaren should of gone for hulkenburg no doubt. Perez aside from canada and monza really has'nt impressed me, inconsistent , lots of erros and most importantly he doesnt have raw pace in quallLionKing wrote:Yep...Joie de vivre wrote:Button behind Mercedes. McLaren will struggle next year.
If Perez does not turn out to be a very fast one, we will never know how good is 2013 Mclaren is. If Button had been the lead Mclaren driver this year, the conclusion would have been that McLaren is the 4th fastest car...
Due to lower atmospheric pressure, increased downforce is the best option. McLaren were just comparing the differences.Vanja #66 wrote:He drove his fastest lap with somewhat lesser downforce level. Next year the tyre construction has been changed to work the tyre harder, as they want to induce degradation to keep overall tyre life similar to this year, but the compounds are supposed to give the tyres a wider operating window so they should be more consistent across the cars. Hopefully Mercedes will produce a longer wheelbase car next year and that combined with the 2013 tyres will help the tyres hang on a lot better than this year.beelsebob wrote:If you assume Button and Rosberg are about as good as each other (probably not unreasonable), Hamilton might be even further ahead... Sauber has hinted they are anticipating/preparing for a wet race and this has lead them to prepare the car for those conditions not the current hot temperatures we've seen at free practice 1 & 2 I'm sure if Sauber have done this then Ferrari have also... Or at least I hope.. 2 things could happen Saubers BET pans out and their stronger in the Rain.... And Hopefully This is also why Ferrari has been slow.. I'm not a TIFOSI I just don't want hard work to Loose to a stronger budget. RedBull spending 250mill shouldn't be the reason They win.. But rather hard work and talent that's the true spirit of racing as a true fan of speed I wish Alonso all the best. I still support the idea that Vettel isn't the best his Team is the best.. He's lucky to have Webber next to him a driver with less Talent then Hamilton and Alonso..Gerhard Berger wrote:Ferrari's not as high in the speed traps as usual. Perhaps anticipating a wet race?
Of course it's the team that's the best as every driver states every time. But do you really think it had been an easy job for Red Bull re-entering the Championship after Alonso was about 40 points ahead of Vettel or Webber? And it wasn't easier for Vettel, because he has a team mate that fights him instead of yielding (I know, meanwhile Webber has to). Guess where Alonso would have been if Red Bull and McLaren had team order like Ferrari. Possibly third with Hamilton WDC?KATO wrote:...
