Politics and public image from stripping Vettel of the title.

For me this race sums up the season beautifully - Alonso did the best he could with his car, and Vettel drove very inconsistently. He had the pace at times and made some good overtakes, but also made some clumsy moves and a couple of mistakes including that rookie first lap and overtaking Kobayashi under yellow flags. But ultimately the Red Bull was a good enough car to carry him home.

Third best driver in the best car brought it home today.
What do you mean politics...

So this championships is decided by politics and not fair application of the rules....

If FIA is a bunch of communists yes I agree with you but they should be consistant no matter who it is..

I think ferrari should protest.

And until they got the blown exhaust working Webber was beating, or at least matching, Vettel. Seb is just better than Webber at extracting the potential of that single device.

All I'm going to say is that if Vettel broke the rules and the FIA declines to punish him, it will be an absolute outrage.

Personally I'd rather Alonso won. Vettel was all over the place earlier in the season, sometimes struggling to even beat his team mate. It was only when the upgrades to the car came along and gave him a distinct advantage that he came back at Alonso in the championship. Can't cheer for a driver only really winning because he was given the best car.
Edit: I should add that I respect Vettel as a driver, although I could do without the finger. But I think he's only the third best guy on the grid, and has only really been exceptional when he has a blown diffuser where he seems to have a speciality of getting more out of that device than many of the others. As all round drivers and racers I think there are at least two drivers ahead of him.
+1. =D>
Sorry for the harsh comment. The real triple world champion is Adrian Newey, not Sebastian Vettel. Almost any better-than-average driver can win world championship in that Red Bull.

Congratulations Sebastian Vettel! You deserve to be THREE TIME WORLD CHAMPION! A great driver makes a great car and a great car allows a great driver to do what drivers are made to do ...win. =D> =D> =D>
Generally I don't care about what people say. I have to be clear with myself. When everything goes well, people celebrate you, when you make mistakes people criticize you.

Don't forget F1 is basically one big PR exercise. Even Ferrari will end up with bad press if Vettel is stripped of the title now. For the FIA safety won't come into it when it comes to the public image of the sport.

I'd put money on it never being publicly investigated, or if it is on them finding some way for Vettel to get away with it and keep the title.

If that's the case then what happen to mark this year? EBD's were not allowed this year.

Source or it didn't happen. Brundle is convinced that Vettel overtook under yellows - so maybe he's just a fanboi too.

What happened this year is that Webber was beating Vettel, and then Newey figured out how to get the EBD working well again.
