Apparently there were two flags, one was yellow.

As to which one is better, and bla bla. I'll stick to Mr. E's quote "the one who wins deserves it".

It's hard to understand that although the name (Driver World Champion) it's not about the driver, but a full combination. Team+Luck+Car+Manager(to get you into the right car).

Had Alonso won, people would be saying "Vettel lost because the team pitted him twice in a row, and the second time didn't had the tires prepared". It's not about the last race (the one easier to remember) it's a full 20-race championship.


Alonso drove brilliantly, which is highlighted by the cars better race pace than qualifying pace. Vettel was handed a better care and delivered. So who's best? Everyone can think what they want, but according to the FIA this year Vettel was the best driver. Next year will be a different one and I'm already waiting for it

They were analysing the flags situation on the Sky Sports. There was a yellow and yellow-red stripes flags, then the green and then again yellow light but Vettel was already alongside and almost even with Kobayashi at that yellow light. Tough call I would say. Technically yes, Vettel finished his overtaking in the yellow-flag zone. If there's a penalty for finishing the overtaking that started under green after the yellow flag - I don't know.

So let me get this straight.

Vettel gets spun around, goes to back of field, has a badly damaged car, loses radio, has a incorrect strategy call, and a slow pitstop and makes his way through the field well to 6th and is lucky.

While Alonso leaves the track twice, inherits 4th through an incident between 2 cars clearly ahead of him, gets gifted 2nd from Massa and is unlucky???

Vettel was clearly quicker at almost all points of the race.

I suggest that some of the more extreme posters have a look at the emotional junk they have posted about this incident. We should have a bit of trust in the race officials. If there had been a transgression I would have at least expected a protest by Ferrari and an investigation. It did not happen and so the regular assumption was that there was no problem.
All drivers did a good job. Button, Hamilton and Massa were particularly outstanding and also Hülkenberg did a good job to lead a race for so many laps considering his experience.
Alonso and Vettel did a good job as well. Vettel's left rear tyre was overheating from the damaged exhaust. The rain helped to cool it down and so he could catch up in the last part of the race. The rain has probably decided the championship. So both contenders did the best in a race that was decided by luck.

The disenchantment on Alonso's face speaks volumes, as did Massa's demeanor.

I think it is fair to say that Massa was faster in the last few races, only yielding to Alonso when he had to. So if he keeps it up, it will be interesting to see how they will match up next season.

Hamilton's exit today was illustrative for his entire season. Very sorry to see him go out like that. But luck is just as much a part of it as everything else.

Vettel did what he had to do and no matter what, you can't argue with his record. But the real winner is Bernie Ecclestone. Again. As always.

Anyways I think it will be equally luck for Alonso to win when his team would make Massa his b***h & get gifted free points throughout the season time & again. He has had mistakes too, today he spun off the track. Hamilton crashed before in the season, got overtaken & got beaten in the 1st race of the season.

Both of them had bad races too. Atleast Vettel did not have had his team-mate act as a slave, change his gearbox for him.

If winning in a better car is not worthy than having a team who treats the other driver like a slave is equally unworthy.

I am not a Vettel fan. I was rooting for Alonso the whole season although I dont like him much, I think he is better than Hamilton & Vettel.

But after being taken out in the car with damaged strategy, lost communication, Vettel did a brilliant race, coming for the inters with probably no radio, the team not ready to change his tyres & in heavy rain, that a Great Peformance.

You could argue that Vettel should get a penalty for causing a collision on Senna, since Senna had a his car along side Vettel. Just like Hulkenberg did to Hamilton.

All in all this championship was decided by Grosjean.
I am sure Alonso should have finish with more than 3 points that race. But we will never know.
Today Vettel was really lucky, a crash with three cars involved and it is the only one coming out from there.
But this is F1. Alonso finished second because Hukenberlg and Hamilton incident.

I'm asking myself is discussions like this will never stop

Alonso was has benefited from the Hulkenberg incident, too. We are all knowing the alternator problems. At the end every WDC is a deserved WCC.
