The mass distribution of the car in the lap time calculator is set at 46:54 Fr:Rr, as per the actual F1 2012 rules, so you should be aiming for a downforce distribution which is similar to this.. you may find that it is slightly beneficial to have a bit more rear downforce than that to aid in traction coming out of the corners....

What i would say is that none of the cars had "too much" downforce; real F1 cars have Cl.A's of around 3 to 3.5, with Cd.A values of around 1.4 to 1.5.... So all the teams had the drag pretty much in the right ball-park, but need to improve efficiency to get more downforce....

That being said I think all the cars look great and far better than anything I could do!

how in depth with the regulations will you be testing cars?

i.e will you be going as in depth as the radius rule with the sidepods, or the gap between planes of the rear wing etc. or will it just be the major rules highlighted as supplied?

Just something worth asking.

I know it is hassle, but i'm just suggesting things to avoid problems later. What about copying the regulations and posting them on your website and highlighting rules you won't/will be testing for? or delete rules you won't?

is there any plan for the virtual stopwatch to do sector times? would be quite interesting to see for the future if possible.
Started work on the new car. the car used in the test race was the first one i had built and only illegal due to the sidepod intakes not being vertical.
For those interested

I could certainly look into adding that feature for when the season starts...

It looks like your team is Mercury Motorsport, right? New front end looking good!

New PDF tutorial on how to create geometry, setup, send analysis and post-process based on Ercoftac Classic Database case 82 - Flow around simplified car body (aka Ahmed Body). Link: http://tinyurl.com/cg62n3v.

Hopefully it should get started those who want to give it a go. Feedback very welcomed.

Just downloaded the various tutorial parts Julien and ran through it quickly, seems to be a lot easier than what I had looked at previously on the Hibou website.
Currently running the tutorial simulation now :)

Will expand it later to try it out with wings etc.

i may have to give it any another look for when i run a sim on my car as a whole. You say theres a 30 day trial? Have you brought it Ric or you trialing?

Had a busy yet unsuccessful weekend on my front wing. Can't seem to find a solution as of yet! Got a major stall on the endplate where airflow just keeps going round and round in the same spot . I know whats causing the problem, so i can back track just prefer not to if i can find a solution

Feel free to send me the pictures and/or skp file at info@hibouscientificsoftware.com.au or julien@khamsinvirtualracecarchallenge.com. I can have a look and let you know if I can spot an issue.

Note: the tutorial is done with a k-omega SST model, whereas released version will use a k-epsilon.
