As silly as this rule seems its not the first. I remember when the rear wing endplates were enlarged some time ago for sponsorship/asthetic reasons.

Don't forget also, the rules that mandate open wheels / open cockpit.... they are only there for reasons of asthetics and tradition.

The cars are very slowly becoming attractive again. With the aero rubbish stripped off since 2009 and the reduction in front wing width and nose height starting 2014, they will look very nice.

I dont know, i get used to stepped nose, seeing regular nose this season will be weird for me, it just with stepped nose some cars looks agressively fast, for example ferrari and lotus, specialy lotus when you compare R31 and E20, they look similar because one is evolution of other, but when you compare them from front E20 is just shine with manliness, then when you look back on R31 and you see women in kitchen.

They weren't, the WMSC was a bit unclear, but the 2014 regulations are. Narrower front wing, lower beam wing/No beam wing, lower noses etc..

Having seen the new FI on the rolling road I can say it certainly looks nicer but there are a lot more detailing around the car to keep interest.

Off to the dust bin for the stepped nose, McLaren got it right 1n 2012. Hopefully others will follow in 2013.

Supermodels and rolling billboards need to be easy on the eyes if they are to earn their keep. :D

Can we hope for some pics (after the car launch, of course)?

You imagine there's no NDA of some sort?

On the one hand, I think the teams did their best to work with the regulation, aesthetically (after properly mitigating aerodynamic losses). On the other hand, they were ugly as s**t. I certainly will not be missing the stepped noses. But, generally, I'm all for anything that continues the amazing safety record of recent Formula 1.
Check out my project at http://www.gpevolved.com. I am attempting to retell the story of F1, one race at a time. Stop by for a taste of Formula 1 in the 1950s.
