McLaren MP4-28 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It will have max. height (100%) , but we can't deduce this from the pic.

nearly all noses( except Marussia) will be stepped (and nearly all stepped will be covered with modesty panel ) in 2013

And how are you so sure? If it was to full height you would have seen the front edge of the tub due to the camera position

compare the McLaren pic (a lousy pic) to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzJqTxaF_iM

and we all now they tested for high tub (to check visibility) with a thing attched on the tub/bulkhead and whatever.

They will have a high front and will be unbeatable.

That actually proves my point.

Yeah, almost a year ago, for like 15 minutes. And after that it was never mentioned again.
They will have a high front and will be unbeatable.
Yeah because a high nose gains like 1 second. An high nose, and certainly when it is only raised for like 5cm barely gains anything. To say that with an high nose they will be unbeatable is just plain stupid.

Oh and do i need to remind you that red Bull actually lowered their nose last year? So there goes your 'maximum height nose is god' argument.

In this (high vs low), It's 50% / 50% = performance gains vs experienced expertise

Looks like the top of the chassis (not the nosetip/front crash structur) is one flat plane. And the plane is parallel to the table on the left side:

Its definitely a high nose like last years stepped variants. I know this not from the picture but from the same person that told my brother about the 2011 intakes that look like an L (pretty close to the U shaped pods) and last years non stepped nose. Not much revolutionary to say about this years car except stepped nose with modesty panel.

You can't use that onboard lap for anything. Looks just as much like this one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNL8YVKU4u0

That picture dosn't reveal whether its a high or low nose. We'll see the 31'st.

I still believe it will be a low chassis just like last year. And i'll believe that until im proven wrong on the 31'st.

Let's wait until 31th January :P It's not important if it is high or low nose... it's important that the whole package works efficiently. After all this discussions it's more likely that will be a high nose #-o

I know that this is a speculation thread but, in my oppionion, you are deceiveing people who come here for the first time and see your post (and may take is as a fact). How can you know for sure in a speculation thread? Tell me some good reasoning that backs up your 100% knowledge about the fact that it's going to be a high nose. It may well be true and we'll see it on the 31st, but it would be better to keep it "speculative" for now.

In a speculation thread I expect to see things like "I think it's going to have a high nose because X reason and I think it will give them the Y advantage comparing to last year" or "It may have (/It would make sense to have) a pull rod in the front because it can help the airflow around the X part of the cassis", not "I saw a pic that literally doesn't show anything, I know for sure that it's going to be that way, don't argue".
I hope I don't get a "-" vote by not being on the same wavelength with other people, but that's what I think.

If I knowsomething for sure why should I speculate.
before I knew, I said well high nose because of this and that maybe not enough foundation basing my speculation (ok), but
white helmet guy said so and is trusted, and so: bingo!

You know something for sure, when you know something for sure you have arguments, you have proof.

However you have not given any proof or arguments why it should be the case, you are just shoving your opinion down peoples throat by claiming it as a fact.
