Anybody gonna miss the stepped noses?

OH I'm sure there's NDAs out the wazoo and tight security. But one can always dream. And perhaps he is privy to photographs. I don't know.

But highly recommended; the step in the nose was an issue due airflow dettachment. The panel effectively can fix that.

Having seen the new FI on the rolling road I can say it certainly looks nicer but there are a lot more detailing around the car to keep interest.

Sauber had their nose port that shot out some air over the bulkhead, but that may have been for the better attached airflow over their stepped nose, so they're out (IMO).

The only other to have a visible secondary aspect to the stepped noses was Red Bull and you KNOW Adrian Newey will never keep something so darn in-elegant. I wouldn't be surprised if they just recreated the RB7 nose....

So, thus, it would be a REALLY big surprise if the car was RACED with the step. Car launches don't count, since they could be holding off on some panel-regulation infringements for the last minute.

The point is whether the vents in the nose of the RB8 and C31 were solutions or workarounds. If they're a workaround to the problems of the step, then re-eliminating the step may mean they aren't required anymore.

Both were believed by scarbs to be workarounds. Especially the sauber one was solely created for reattachment. The Red Bull was also believed to be, creating a vortex. However, the letterbox might also had other purposes. Anyhow, if it did had more purposes, they could integrate it into the panel.

The rules about the panel are heavily ambigious. The technical regulations refer to the appendix about further information about the panel, but the appendix of the 2013 technical regulations is nowhere to be found. Possibily the teams got a copy of that. All down to interpretation and Charlie Whiting's tolerance, but the panel could perhaps be manipulated for aero advantages, and not solely for air attachment.

If theres any car who at launch dosn't feature a modesty panel on its step it will be added along the season. I'll bet on it.

Mind you to be fair I haven't seen the actual car -rather a rendition of it as a model (in various guises) as they don't have a full sized WT.....yet

However I assume the car to be shown as the 'new car' will already be several upgrades behind so it's no more than a 'design philosophy ' as signed off some point last year?

Yes I will because they have grown on to me (atleast some have) I really love the step on Ferrari,FI & RBR .

The Ferrari is my favourite because the box nose with almost boxy front wing and straight arms (pull rod front) make it look ascetically pleasing but that's just me .

Also as many team have claimed that it doesn't really add to the drag ,also I predict that may be RBR will retain the step for RB9 because it serves the additional cooling purpose perfectly and I guess some teams may follow them .

I liked the pre Barcelona Macca nose but the new one not so much . The Caterham , Williams ,TR never grew on me (may be due to liveries not suiting them) .

I don't know what you mean by ascetic, but If you found the 2012 Ferrari's nose aesthetic then I fear you haven't laid eyes on a beautiful racecar or it's the first and only one you have seen.

There isn't probably anything in the world which has a universally accepted aesthetic thought. I thought the F2012 wasn't a looker, but there was a certain "je ne sais quoi" to it.
