Lotus E21 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The angles of images are confusing me.I can't see if the nose step is changed at all.

Nose step is definitely uglier... less smoothly angled. that maybe means they raised the car's monocoque/nose a bit

10:41 Romain Grosjean and Lotus, conversely, are back out and flying. The Frenchman didn't leave the pits for the first hour and still has just eight laps under his belt in the E21, but he's just improved to a 1m21.175s, which keeps him third. The car looks particularly quick in the first sector, where it tops the speed trap.
Looks like that they've solved output power which was being limited lately last year with their early Coanda exhaust.

James Allison said the new coanda recovered 6-8 bhp.

However, still early day to conclude that. barcelona will be more obvious.

When JA said that? This is about their 3rd version of Coanda. The first one was invented in Korea. The second in Abu Dhabi and it was predicted to recover some BHPs also. Are you mentioning that or a new words from James Allison?

read the new issues of autosport sub for 31 Jan 2013.

He was referring to the current ramp tunnel style of course.

He said the current system is half of the old one.

meaning we are still running with 8bhp deficit.
