Those are the softs right? Imagine how the supersofts would be like.

Vettel did 9 laps on the softs in the second stint. He now switched to the hard compound.

I dont think the tyres will fall off after just 8 laps when we do hit the season. I think one of the reason for high deg on tyres is because its quite cold, which Vettel spoke about when Skysports were summarizing day one of the Barcelona test.

around 0.55 he talks about the difficulty of understanding the tyres it this conditions which will see higher tyres deg, i guess.

Well, compared to last year (when it was cold too), this is dramatic.

Funny how every year before testing starts, people think there's no way tyres will degrade even faster then the year before, but then exactly this happens.

And then there was the bizarre incident with Rosberg when he pitted early (can't remember which GP!) complaining the tyres were shot only to be told they looked like new!

Well, not bad I would say. Do you guys see a pattern? The first lap is very fast and then a massive drop off.

Still a big drop, but quite a bit better then the softs. Dunno if that last lap in that stint should be counted in; 2.5 seconds looks to be too big a difference just for degredation.

He might have overused his tyres in the first lap. I wonder how the pattern would be if he did that lap a bit slower.

Maybe the first lap the tyres a warm because of the tyreheaters. Its cold in Barca right know, 9c air track is 15c. Also this particular track demands a lot of the tyres endless cornering. But the W04 looks really good most laps it did today where sub 1:30 laps. thats encouraging. Plus the fact that Lewis is doing the longest stints on the track. Really positive day so far for lewis and Merc.
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."
