How does Top Gear benefit from Hamilton going 1.1 seconds quicker than Vettel? I don't understand why people can't just accept it that Hamilton went quicker, he set a very fast time in the wet, so of course when it was dry he was going to go a lot quicker in the dry.

If say Kimi or another driver, had set that time, everyone would be saying what a good driver he is, and there wouldn't be any talk of the lap being suspicious, but Hamilton on the other hand...

the car clearly had 500 horses when Hamilton did his run.

We who stay in reality knows that Hamilton just wrecked a whole field of drivers by quite some margin ;)

Is it just me, or there seems to be a more general trend of 'lap records' constantly improving at TG, both on the Liana-F1 board, the Cee-apostrophe-Dee board and the supercar hotlap board? It's kinda suspicious especially when the weather doesn't look too suitable, or when the celebrity laps don't look that clean.

Perhaps the tarmac surface is special in that despite rain, etc it manages to maintain track evolution, thus making the track ever quicker?

Time will have been taken from camera time code rather than a stopwatch. Side on camera at start and finish will be accurate to one 24th of a second, as will record at 24 frames a second. Therefore that camera recording will have exact time as they'll be able to isolate frame he started and finished so no real room for trickery. And does anyone really believe the BBC would mess around after all the scandel recently about misleading to viewers? Trust me, the compliance rules there are now a nightmare and no producer would dick around like that in current climate, the truth would definitely get out and people would be hung drawn and quartered!

Whatever mate, I've worked there so I know what I'm talking about. There's been a huge culture shift and things are nothing like they used to be.

I refuse to believe any technical statements or figures given out by Top Gear as a matter of principle.
The tests they did on the Tesla EV was enough for me.
The BBC cover up afterwards proved things conclusively.

To be fair Clarkson has never pretended that the show is anything other than entertainment for the motor head goons.
I also believe that at least one of the other presenters has serious misgivings on occasion when asked to support some of the rubbish Clarkson comes out with.

On balance the shows are good fun but when he goes to far Clarkson should be brought to bookand not allowed to get away with damaging certain commercial interests.

As to Hamiltons lap.
Until they instal unbiased lap timing and judication it will remain unproven.

Funny how this comes up now. When vettel was fastest = no talk whatsoever about times being faked.

Because why not, german on british show, can´t possibly be faked right, then british star comes on board it´s all of a sudden fake.

Or "unproven"..

If it was anyone but Hamilton, nobody would've had a problem with the lap.

Are you kidding? I'm still rolling my eyes over Tom Cruise's attempt. Look -

It's a show. It's practically animated. Actually, an animated version would get better ratings. I'm thinking a saturday morning crime solving sort of thing, like a combination scooby-doo/speed racer. With the villain voiced by Alonso, of course...

(Does anyone get the impression that I'm not taking this topic seriously?)

Boy, Imagine if Hamilton was to win the ROC?
It would lose all credibility.

And so it begins....the clash of the Titans... :)
"He was cheating!" joked the triple world champion referring to the Mercedes driver’s efforts in the Suzuki Liana.

"Of course I would like another go. I now have another reason to go on the show,” Vettel was quoted saying by the Daily Mail.

“When I was there, I wanted to keep on going but now I will have to wait until I get invited to go back on the show,” he said referring to the episode aired in July 2011. “It’s a good car – you should try it!”

"His time was pretty impressive. It was a big difference to everyone else. I need to go there and find a bit of a trick,” he added.
