@andystobart of @Lotus_F1Team confirmed that the covered exhaust was just an aero test, not a new idea to be raced.
It's a neat idea, I presume it replicates a perfect coanda dragging all the exhaust flow down. They'll be able to see how much development potential they'd gain if they were able to drag the exhaust down with an improved coanda effect.

It's been a long time since we drove last time, but it has also been a short time at the same time

He have already concluded that. :)

Looks like they have changed the position of DRS button, no? It was on the right side of the steering wheel and up, now it is on the left side and down.

Did Lotus test their DRD at all this winter?
I saw one picture of the 'ears' uncovered during one of the wet days, but nothing else.

Yes, they did. You should better look at the previous pages of this thread. There are plenty of images to be looked at.

Yes. They placed it just for an aero test.

All new parts bolted on (new FW, new bargeboards, new rear bodywork, new monkey seat, new RW)
P.S: The team removed them all near the end of testing day 4 and KR did his last laps with the initial package

I would say this is one of way how to hide performances, and not show true strenght of you aero packet for Australia. It's seems Red Bull did same thing. =D>

I doubt it. Much easier to just whack a load of fuel in the car and do qualifying simulations on 150kg of fuel.

No one on the grid hides performance or sandbangs just to sandbag... those sandbagging stories are bullshit.
Either they removed all the parts to compare the Melbourne package to the inital one, or the new package didnt bring any gains (which is very improbable)

Good way to evaluate all the changes/updates that were made during testing weeks.

Thought so, think the guy on the last page through the actual exhaust was facing down!
