Your fancy science has failed you.
There wasn´t much science to begin with.

And what was science was linked to pseudo-science with nothing to back it up other then (for example) two writers.

I think what Pup meant is that science failed you because it didn't enable you to describe what you think is wrong in that post.

Just a thought.

(I'm all about some science, by the way. Metaphysics, too.)

ok i see, nevermind then.
I figured after writing that long post that it was of no real use anyways so i let it slide.

There´s definitely some very interesting "mysterious" things in the world but Tarot cards isn´t one of them.

IMO, it's never a good idea to close the mind from learning. It self infantilizes - hindering one from expanding towards a continuing state of unceasing emergence.

these cards are just printed by some company, are they not? I don't understand where you guys think the association with whatever symbol they attach to a date (birth year?) comes from - I assume some type of astrology? That raises the question of how they determine that date X is the devil and date Y is the chariot, among many other questions.

Seriously! All ideologies are complete bs. Just align to the Source however you wish and go with it. Subscribing to someone else's conclusions is a gateway to disassociation and a severing from the opportunity to individuate. Cheers-

It is important to know the history of Tarot cards.
Many modern sets are cobbled up by those submerged in modern new age thinking and are simply poor art.
It is thought that Tarot cards originated in ancient Egypt and were based on the sacred book of Thoth.
French tarot cards are the earliest known to exist, late medieval I think.

Tarot reading is closely connected with astrology and various forms of divination and Magik. (not party tricks)
When discusing astrology it is important not to be deceived by the childish and over simplistic predictions given in newspapers based on a persons birth (sun) sign.
A persons birth is heralded by the objects in space above that birth.
Plotting the position of these objects (planets, star signs etc) and from that making a prediction gives a birth chart.
The effect on a person of the objects in space above them at any particular time combined with their birth chart gives the current reading for that person.
The sun sign (position of the sun in the signs at that time) is nowhere near enough for a personal reading.
Another media con.
A book of planetary ephemerides (or a computer program) is used to find space object positions at any time in history.
This gives the 'factual' detail that readings are based on. (astronomy)

It is all very well criticising astrology as being unscientific.
However, readings are based on thousands of years of continuity showing how many times predictions were proven correct.
Objects in space do affect things on the earth. this is scientific fact.
So there could be some truth in astrological prediction.
I used to construct birth charts for friends and family and it is surprising just how closely the persons chart matches them.

In 1947 year Aleister Crowley died.
Crowley had spent a great deal of his life designing the Thoth Tarot. (his tarot pack)
The symbols he placed on these cards represent many things from occult teachings.
Crowleys cards are difficult to read and require a great deal of study to find the significance of the images.
However, they are the only cards I believe to be worth using, other packs are either to simplistic or simply wrong.
It is said that the ability to read Tarot will come to the person without their conscious action.
The cards should be given as a present.
Simply buying the cards negates their power.

Rune reading is another form of divination based on the ancient runic alphabet and symbals.
Again it is important to research the historical base to this art and not be diverted by modern misrepresentation.
Throughout history human beings have used various methods of prediction and ways to seek advice about life.
The modern world gives us few ways to satisfy this basic need.
The truth is that we know no more today about the inner workings of the mind (not the brain) as did the first human beings.

Seriously, what the heck. Why are we disscussing things and methods, that are proven unscientific.
However, readings are based on thousands of years of continuity showing how many times predictions were proven correct.
And can you show us please, how many times it were proven wrong? Because I lost count.
For me, it is looking something rational in unconnected things and happenings.
