Red Bull RB9 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

If the aesthetics of F1 were truly irrelevant, I think the cars would probably have fenders by now. That they don't have fenders is the result of a largely aesthetic decision by the rule-makers to disregard the ginormous drag penalty associated with exposed wheels in order for the cars to more or less maintain F1's "traditional" appearance.

That's just one example; there are more. ("vanity panels," exhaust note considerations, etc.)

At any rate, I shall now dismount from my soapbox.

(I really hope I can stick the landing. I hear the Polish judge is notoriously harsh when it comes to missteps.)

Vettel is quite hard on his chassis, when compairing him to Jenson and Fernando Seb is a lot harder, Jenson and Fernando have both done a championship with a single chassis (R26-03 & BGP001-02) and both have either gone an an entire season with a single chassis before their championship year, or with a season with a single chassis for all but one or two races.

Hamilton is harder to get a handle on, he has wrecked a fair few chassis, but has also suffered at the hands of the stupid McLaren chassis rotation thing and also suffered in 2009 with the long wheel base and short wheelbase MP4/24.

Maybes Vettel has a driving style that has an effect on the Chassis somehow that is detected via NDT.

I'd say the difference between these examples and RBR is more likely the depth of the team owner's pockets than lack of chassis abuse.

The first column is the name of the country, the second one is the lenght of the track, then it's the average speed, then max speed, then it's the % of the lap at full throttle, then the fuel consumption on one lap then the average consumption (L per 100KM ).

At Melbourne, RS27 engines consumn 2.5 litres of fuel on one lap and 67 after 100 KM.
I've translated it.

I didn't see that you have already described those columns. :)

That's an understatement. I think Newey may be harbouring secret unfulfilled dreams of being a master watchmaker.

The left arrow points to *uhm* nothing?!
The right arrow points to a duct that has been there since day 1 Jerez.

Isnt the left one pointing on the fat bit on the back of the car that presumbaly is the duct that gets air from the big hole above the driver, prob split into two, as in one on each side.

It also seems much better organised, you can observe what is what very well. Almost placed together like legos, instead of trying to cramp everything in there what other teams seem to do.
