Mercedes AMG F1 W04

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

Ted Kravtiz has just eluded that Mercedes maybe running a hydraulic linked suspension system, if so...nice!
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Omg, I'm so curious to see the cars on track running top.

Why is this "fric" suspension legal and the lotus' one from last year not? I am talking about the front suspension that keep ride height costant on braking

Because this system reacts to external induced changes of load, the lotus system was active in the way, that forces from the brake caliper were transferred to the suspension arms which changed in lenght. Merc`s version is legal, because it transfers load only "inside" the suspension system without changing the position of suspension arms itself.

Just wants to make sure his W04 looks really good and shiny when he's running his pole-lap.

Probably wants to get involved, its a good way to hang out with his mechanics considering they would be to busy for a glass of pop.

Nico had a gearbox problem that they knew about for most of the session. Lewis damaged his splitter in a previous off. Personally though, I'm just happy to see how legitimately fast they are. :)

Why everybody is talking about the hydraulically cross-linked suspension as something new?
