How many cars has he broken? Was'nt Collin MacRae famous for crashing a lot? This is his first rally, did you see the results from the first day? =D> Far superior car? But what about experience? Let's at least wait five rallies before making any judegements.MadMatt wrote:This is just ridiculous. He has broken more cars in his (small) career than Colin McRae in his entire career. Money is one thing, reason is another, so Robert just go back to circuit racing before you injure yourself or someone else.
I can't help but to think about the medias that spitted on François Duval during so many years, and now nothing on Kubica which is doing a far worse job. Not only he always has a superior car than the others, but he can't stay on the road.
Yea sorry I just don't like to see cars smashed like this.
He's hardly racing Loeb out there. And Kubica is a very experienced and talented racing driver. But Kimi Raikkonen wasn't exactly on rails either when he joined the WRC if I remember correctly, and he didn't have any physical impairment.Donuts wrote:How many cars has he broken? I haven't counted how many cars, it was more a joke than anything, but the fact is that nearly every rally now he crashes his car. It is not his first rally, why do you say that ? How do you think he had his hand incident ?Donuts wrote:How many cars has he broken? Was'nt Collin MacRae famous for crashing a lot? It's his first rally with some competition that counts, that's what I meant. The other rallies, he won plenty if I'm not misstaken, they were amateur rallies. I don't recall any big shunts except for the one were he sustained life threatening injuries.MadMatt wrote:I haven't counted how many cars, it was more a joke than anything, but the fact is that nearly every rally now he crashes his car. His car is much superior on the engine point of view. More torque at mid range and power, which makes a big difference in rallying. S2000 cars are fast, but very picky to drive. I think we have seen enough rallies to make a judgment here. He should go back to circuit racing.
Nothing wrong with the man, but this is deffo not his stuff, so better stop before falling off a cliff !
Agreed. Somehow he did'nt pick DTM, if I recall it correctly he wanted something more "challenging"(his words)?Nando wrote:If he was a cat he would be on his last life.
This is the only reason i would like to see him stop rallying and come back to circuit racing, like DTM this year and then see if F1 is still a viable option.
Again, sorry ? His previous rallies were also against serious competitors, thanks for them ! And which rallies did he win, maybe you can help me ? I don't think he won PLENTY as you say.Donuts wrote:It's his first rally with some competition that counts, that's what I meant. I don't know about the cars, from what I've read they have different strenghts/weaknesses.
Have you read(autosport plus) what Petter Solberg is saying about Robert Kubica after his rally test earlier this year?
As I said, not ready to make any judgements before at least five rallies.

Regarding crashes, here are few that I could remember (keep in mind he has less than 2 years in rallying):
- his very bad accident with his left hand problem
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivQY9onb5rg
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jymkkBHPlIo
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uupbY6LTN8Y
- his crash at the Rallye du Var where he was leading.
And his previous rallies were competed using much more superior cars than his opponents (you can check!) so where is the real challenge there ? Solberg is a nice guy
So I'm sorry, he has some speed, but let's see what he can do with a Peugeot 207 S2000 for example, and then I'll keep my mouth shut 5 rallies as you ask me ! The guy has proved nothing but that he has a big wallet !!
