Ferrari F138

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It would be great if we could get a photo of the rear of the car showing the rear vent of the engine cover...its new that's for sure as I noticed the opening at the rear is a slim slit rather than a triangular opening...
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Hey Ferrari are using this very engine cover in both AUS & Mal GP even Alonso and Massa differ their version. Some time Alonso use it or Massa. But in the race they both use the Triangular shaped engine cover. Guessing that Ferrari will ultimately switch to the Slit engine cover caz it better flow of hot rad gas without any restriction. :D

So other than the new front wing and turning vanes I can't see any other outwardly visible changes. I haven't found a shot of the diffuser area yet to compare, but it looks like the aero work is concentrated at the front of the car. The rear wing appears identical to the last race.

another upgrade is on the cascade wing..the vertical vortex generator that was previously introduced on the last upgrade now extends to the upper face of the upper element of the cascade wing much like the lotus one

All we can really tell is that it is not necessarily a problem. There were a lot of times when a purpoising car is still pretty fast. The cause is probably a difference in front/back stiffness of the car.

New front wing is also a fully 3 planes towards the middle instead of just having a slit.

Were the new tripple element turning vanes under the nose used today?

Yes, they ran both the old and new versions to compare. I saw shots of the mechanics swapping them out on Alonso's car during FP2.
