Monaco is a great track. Why all the hate? :|

On topic now, I am seriously getting tired of all the new circuits in places where hardly anybody cares about F1. Korea in 2010, India in 2011, and now THIS? And what Bernie has done in the USA makes me sad. Texas and New Jersey are the two WORST places to have a F1 race. Why not Long Beach, or Watkins Glen?

Because neither Long Beach or Watkins Glen come remotely close to being on F1 specified levels. And yes, they can say "we invest in track upgrades" but then everyone would whine about how F1 ruined another great track

Because it has near 0 overtaking opportunities; areas which can put a driver in the wall through 90% bad luck, rather than bad driving (see for example the entrance to the chicaine, which can drop you into the wall if you happen to hit the bump the wrong way); features that require teams to design a car set up that's used no where else, wasting money; and hasn't provided an interesting race in years.

That's why all the hate.

Crying because how bad the race was? It was bad.

I see Monaco as a necessary evil. It attracts alot of potential sponsors.

Each his own opinion then. IMO the 2011 race was better.

Anyone who has a favourite driver wants to see them win in Monaco. If the race itself isn't exciting, the weekend as a whole I feel is always slightly more exciting than normal as you hope to see your favourite driver win. I always get excited over the results in Monaco more than any other race, even if the racing itself is pretty average. If the weather is nice, it is also great to enjoy the scenery during the practise sessions - much more so than India, Shanghai or Korea, for example.

As people have mentioned, it is very difficult to pass at the front of the pack where the cars are of equal pace. The race comes down to qualifying and pit strategies, which usually are identical for the front runners. This often (but not always) makes it a procession for 78 laps. I actually really enjoy the break from DRS slicing and dicing, but my comment was reflecting the general consensus that Monaco is a pretty boring, processional race that goes for two full hours.

Personally, I think the race can be quite tense and I really enjoy watching cars following each other closely around the low down force track. Last years final five laps were fantastic. But I quite like Webber and I suspect that last years race wasn't brilliant for Hamilton fans.

Monaco or Thailand? Which one would you rather watch a race at? I have been to Monaco and the excitement in the stands is incomparable.

Ask your wife/significant other: "Honey, I am buying us tickets and plane fare to a Formula One race this year. Which would you prefer? Monaco or Thailand?" :?:

'Nuff said. :D

Then again: watching a race in thailand goes hand in hand with a €7000 trip for sightseeing in the country for a whole week, something she definitely will not decline.

How is it "bad luck" when a driver drives over a bump the wrong way?

That particular bump has been there over 50years. If someone ditches their car because they drove over it wrong, that's a problem with the driver, not the track.

I like the look of this track, a fast and quite simple track to what we have in Singapore in which i think there should be about 2 or 3 layout changes in order to make the track faster for a slightly shorter race. Its looking probable this will be the track that replaces the failure of Korea, a track i dont like the layout of as its just too technical for me. However for 2015-2016 it's looking as if there will be 22 GP that year.

The calendar will look like this:

01] Bahrain
02] Australia
03] Malaysia
04] China
05] Thailand
06] Spain
07] Monaco
08] Canada
09] American
10] British
11] German
12] Hungarian
13] Belgian
14] Italian
15] Singapore
16] Japan
17] Russian
18] Abu Dhabi
19] USA - Austin
20] Mexico
21] Brazil

There will probably be a 22nd GP event added in between Thailand and Spain in Africa in South Africa or a country in the north of Africa like Morocco or Angola that has money to supply a event.

I dont think we will get any further then 20 GPs. 21 tops. Other tracks will be dropped. Germany is likely, with all the nurnburgring financial problems, or 2 circuits on the existing calender alternate each year.
