Toro Rosso STR8 Ferrari

Detrimental, being a higher pressure at the leading edge of the concave of the trailing edge?

Too me the concave would create a low pressure pocket infront of those turning strakes, possibly working together to energise the flow through to the front of the floor.

Though i do agree this is an area where Torro Rossa need to develop, the strakes were abandoned for the scoops by the leading teams quite some time ago and could possibly be where they are hoping to achieve their gains come Spain.

I guess I didn't know what I was really asking when I said "pressure gradient". I was wondering if there was a negative aspect to the concave underside in terms of developing df compared to the under-humps of Lotus. I understand that the under-humps help to use the neutral center of the front wing to generate DF. It will be interesting to see their developments, as China shows that Riccardo - at least - can unlock some speed.

There seems to be two trains of thought throughout the paddock on the section under the nose.

In parc ferme I noticed the section under the Ferrari is similarly concave and Red Bull has a even more extreme shape under the nose, so I dont think they are far wrong with their concept, however its how it interacts with the vortices off the front elements and how the downstream components affect the flow. As I mentioned before, their turning strakes is one area of obvious gains to be made, mimicing the scoops that Ferrari and Red Bull run.

New exhausts for the STR, completely open ramp (does it need a new name?), interesting idea.

Do we have any pictures of this new solution? In TV you can't see any details =/

TR is really onto something with their sidepods lovely leading edge treatment -is this a cooling outlet or is it a neat ways to blead off excessive pressure in the inlet duct?

the floating ramp is also a very nice thing.

They have that open sidepod for 2 years almost.

Quite an interresting solution, hopefully they gained a lot with this and are a bit further forward on the grid. The rear end was tightened a lot too with the sidepod update.

I don´t think it was opened all the way round the inlet before?
