What are those red things surrounding the rear stub axels? Are they something to do with setting up the car? They can't be used with the wheels on because they cover the thread.

Not exactly a pressing issue, but does anyone know what substance/material the drive shaft is made from? It's a reddish alloy, not something i'm familiar with so curious. Cheers.

According to SkyItalia, it's a camera to monitor tyre temperatures

Ted just explained at SkySport how clever Merc is that they are mounted these heat sensor cameras to the front wing cascade. Imagine how hard it was to develop it after three years of struggling with tyres!!

Mercedes has added a carbon fibre cover/skin to their gearbox for Monaco to change the suspension geometry without having to stiffen the suspension and not have to completely redo the gearbox.

Italy's omnicorse.it says only Lewis has the new rear suspension double-cover:
1.Should Nico be potentially quicker in one-lap and slower in race than Lewis due to the rear suspension difference?
2.It's all about just a cover or something else has changed at the rear?

I do not see where OmniCorse says only HAM's car has the new cover. As for number 2, Piola says they have modified suspension angles/geometry.

Edit: I see where they say only Hamilton's car has the suspension update. Apologies mate :)

Hamiltons lack of speed might also be partially due to the sensors that were attached to his front wing.

Lewis had camera attachments/wires on his front wing elements today in FP1 directly monitoring front tyre degradation so maybe they are doing some testing to see if It made a difference.

Lack of speed is a bit over the top; he was 0.274s behind Nico. Easily explainable by the sensor/camera equipment obstructing airflow. They probably also fueled him more then Nico to let him run bigger stints to check tyre temperature.

He only seemed to be slower than Nico in the final sector, was pretty close in both sector 1 and 2.
