It'll be the wheel tether, just with all the threads unbunched after the stress of the crash.marco.pav94 wrote:What kind of material is this? It looks like optical fiber, I've never seen anything similar in F1 before.

As i can not find this on any of the other pics from this weekend, i would say it's nothing but a strange reflection. any other thoughts?mike199013 wrote: Any idea what that might be?
I was thinking the same, it seems to be very innovative in my eyes! It must work otherwise it wouldn't be thereHobbs04 wrote:Notice breaks in the floor around the E21's unique barge boards. I am no aero guy but what are they trying to do? I've heard James Allison talking about the potential of the forward facing exhaust seems they have a design philosophy surrounding the leading edge of the floor in that area.
I tend to think the bulb does mostly the same. It keeps the air under the central section of the nose by creating a low pressure zone in the cnter, thereby reducing spillage to the sides. Would be interesting to know the cross section over the length of the nose. Because only the central section goes up again slightly behind the bulb I think looking at the volume of the nose cross section there will be no overall adverse pressure gradient behind the bulb.ringo wrote: Turning vanes do the opposite. They increase downforce by isolating the conditioned flow under the nose from the unconditioned flow outside. They are basically end plates for the under nose. Kind of like a diffuser end plate.
Wow there is an hole under the nose!
