Yes, but the rears are still the limiting factor. Don't forget that you also need to look at slip ratio - ie longitudinal slip between the tyre and the asphalt. Lateral is not the only axis that a car's tyres can be performance-limiting.godlameroso wrote:To an extent, there isn't much lateral acceleration asked from the rears, in fact in terms slip angle this track is lower than Albert park, bar the final hairpin.
Just wanna say that I do miss the unlimited DRS qualifying. I feel that drivers are more on the edge when they try to use DRS in as many places as possible to get the most out of a lap.raymondu999 wrote:2012 pole lap - Sebastian Vettel

The subpar cars Ferrari and Lotus will dominate the race thanks to the strangest tires in history.
First time tires penalize properly good cars.
Simplistic and wrong.SectorOne wrote:It´s the truth. First year in Formula one history where the two cars with the most downforce can´t even make it through the race because less good cars who put less energy in the tires can go for longer.
Same laptime for both still means RBR and Merc puts in more energy in the tires and it´s like Newey says,
There´s a direct link between wear and downforce. This was not the case last year where the quickest cars could run at the
pace of the second fastest machine like we saw Mclaren do alot for example.
