Sighhhh! It was a joke.turbof1 wrote:I doubt anybody will find 2 (structural) tenths. Remember, this not your average circuit. Claiming you found a tenth is already quite bolt in Canada.
Yeah I am a party pooper. What ya gonna do .gilgen wrote:Sighhhh! It was a joke.turbof1 wrote:I doubt anybody will find 2 (structural) tenths. Remember, this not your average circuit. Claiming you found a tenth is already quite bolt in Canada.
I've mentioned this elsewhere. It seems these tires have two modes, one of them involves pushing to get them working right away, another involves gently bringing the tire up to temperature. The former unlocks the full performance of the tire but makes it degrade rather quickly, the latter is slower but far more consistent. That means that for the first lap or two there can be no wheel spin, and no sliding, and then you can get Lotus levels of longevity and pace. It would certainly explain the difference in qualifying lap times.beelsebob wrote:It's interesting that he's talking about not getting temperature into the tyres fast enough. So not only do they have a problem with overheating the tyres, but also a problem with taking too long to get them warm!

Auto Motor und Sport is reporting new side pods, a modified exhaust position and a flatter engine cover. Special thanks to mercamgf1-fans.com for pointing this out.

I'm not quite seeing different side pods or any alterations to the exhaust, can anyone point this out a bit more clearly if that is indeed the case?

Seems to be a very subtle change. Aside from a very subtle undercut change, I believe the top outer portion of the sidepod directs air more directly to the exhaust exit now.
Brawn also notes they are aiming to decrease tire temps at the rear by 10 degrees. If they can do that, they will have a regular winner on their hands.
