Indeed, looks like a tungsten steel ballast - the estimated weight of this piece is about 8 to 10 kilograms.

Which one? Red or green arrow?

Green

The red looks like link up for vertical splitter above the tea tray (based on the triangular shape and location)

I too can't see anything. Even slight differences. It appears as though the only modification was the new engine cover.

I'd be surprised if Mercedes was not working on that, if only because the way he describes it as a loss of 0.3s in the first sector of Monaco is three times the scale of the improvement estimated above. What do people think are the options that might be appropriate ? Are 'simple' measures like tyre conditioning or blanket temperatures feasible, or is it all much more complicated than that ?
although I was aware that MGB have changed the pad material this year because last year's didn't allow lewis to use his normal technique of stamping on the brakes ultra late , and that nico has decided to change to that as well , I didn't realise that some teams have exclusives on the material they use so that it can't be offered to their competition

As we've seen those last years, copying in F1 is retentionless: Merc's unique style front wing has its design in something specific (more front DW, vortex generated,...) or copying another design would be unuseful?

well the problem is clear, they suck at race. why? probably heavy fuel load due to high consumption. they really should consider revising the exhaust and maybe engine mapping. maybe this is also the reason behind high tyre degredation. when toro rosso started using rbr styled exhaust they started to score some good points in the race. i presume they aren't focusing enough on that problem
