BBC weather forecasts are only to be taken seriously for the next couple of hours, not days..

Does anyone know if there are any buses to Milton Keynes from Silverstone on Friday? Was planning to go but may have to be back at work in London after lunch, so was wondering if it's possible to watch P1 then catch a train from Milton Keynes to be in London around 14.00.

As it happens the major news channels use the same underlying models, ie the Met Office data.

Weather has been patchy in the last few days, heavy showers if you're in the wrong place or blazing sunshine in the right place just 10 miles away.

It's supposedly more stable this week, but possibly unstable at the weekend.

godlameroso - That theory works for fronts crossing the country from the Atlantic. However we often have showery weather with little rhyme or reason.

I have been standing in glorious sunshine with not a cloud in the sky, and my BBC weather app says it's raining heavily. So couple of hours is still a stretch. I guess on that point, we should expect it to rain during the race.

Or not.

I had that over the weekend, driving through a downpour then glorious sunshine and bone dry roads 10 miles away. No weather model has sufficient granularity for that level of detail.

With Wimbledon and the Grand Prix taking place during the same week, the mercury is shooting high on the Brit-meter. Will we have a British driver on the podium? Button says he would love to win at Silverstone, however I'm doubtful Mclaren have made a big leap in performance.

Mercedes have seemed to take pole more easily on the tracks this year?

I think Rosberg and Hamilton will be really close again this weekend
If Merc take pole, Alonso will be the favourite for the race even starting 5th I reckon. If Vettel is quicker than Alonso in the race on this type of circuit it would seem RB have got better with tires

I don't get particularly excited about Silverstone despite being British, just find the track a bit lifeless. Maybe that will improve when I practice the track on the game

I don't get that excited about it either – I think they made the track actively worse when they added the new infield section, I much preferred the old bridge complex. The sweeping left/right section at magots/beckets is fun, but so many tracks do that now, it's got a little long in the tooth.

Anybody know what channel and time qualifying is on Saturday in the US? Can't find it anywhere in my NBC channel guide.

I'm west coast USA and on Dish Network it says:

Friday free practice 2 at 6:00am channel 159 NBC Sports channel.

Saturday Quali 11:00am same channel.

Sunday race at 4:30am same channel.

Hope this helps you and others. Really looking forward to Silverstone after this 3 week hiatus.

Silverstone is still a good circuit but I agree about the infield bit. The new Abbey curve is very quick but I miss Bridge - a proper old style corner. I believe that the infield section was actually designed with bikes in mind - it was about the time that Bernie was getting shirty with BRDC. The annoying thing is that they have actually dug up the section of track at Bridge so it can never be reused.

So even though the Google Maps data for Silverstone shows the old circuit (from above) the Street Maps view is complete for the revised circuit:

The Google camera car is being followed by a Ferrari and an Aston Martin, and is following a GTR

While I know my past reveals my allegiances, shouldn't Webber be on the above list as well (2010, 2012)?
