Good comparison. So new engine cover + Ferrari-style fin along with rear bodywork - exactly the things Alan was talking about.

● New engine cover with central (a-la-Ferrari) fin;
● New rear, tighter bodywork (that works with the engine cover);
● Slightly reprofiled monkey seat;
● Some suspension-related modifications (we can't see it, but Alan Permaine mentioned them last week)
● New front wing (also mentioned by Alan Permaine).
● There might be something new to the floor also

Skinnier bodywork on Lotus E21

Post

Skinnier bodywork on Lotus E21 - Development blog

Lotus have introduced a new bodywork package on their E21 which appears to be a lot skinnier ahead of the rear wing. While Raikkonen was still running the old package, a few times even with DRD, Grosjean's E21 had this new package which looks unsuited for DRD, even though the inlets are still present.

One of the most interesting bits is the outlet of the sidepod's hot air. Where most teams aim to dump that close to the floor or through a Red Bull style funnel ahead of the monkey seat, the new Lotus package features a shallow triangular shape, blowing air onto a wide central section of the beam wing. Its shape appears to be designed to remove any obstacles in the airflow higher than the sidepod's shoulders. This in return should increase the efficiency of the rear wing.

Aside being difficult to reason what advantge would became whith a asymetric air intake, that would be illegal.
3.16.1 With the exception of the opening described in Article 3.16.3, when viewed from the side, the car must have bodywork in the area bounded by four lines. One vertical 1330mm forward of the rear wheel centre line, one horizontal 550mm above the reference plane, one horizontal 925mm above the reference plane and one diagonal which intersects the 925mm horizontal at a point 1000mm forward of the rear wheel centre line and the 550mm horizontal at a point lying 50mm forward of the rear wheel centre line.

Bodywork within this area must be arranged symmetrically about the car centre line and, when measured 200mm vertically below the diagonal boundary line, must have minimum widths of 150mm and 50mm respectively at points lying 1000mm and 50mm forward of the rear wheel centre line. This bodywork must lie on or outside the boundary defined by a linear taper between these minimum widths.
Definitly optic illusion.

Bodywork around the G-box looks nice from that view angle. I wonder if it contains Redbull like cross tunnels : P

Lotus also tested new front brake ducts today. They are similar to the Williams ones.

Alan Permane ‏@AlanPermane
Kimi will stay with the new 'device' through P3 and very likely Q and Race

New svelte bodywork remains for R.Grosjean. No 'Device'.

So "the device" and the new rear bodywork are pretty much working as they expected.
