Lotus E21 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

You better look at Grosjean car this afternoon
What should i look at ? That he didnt run DDRS ? No surprise there... What i said Lotus said was the package was as good as the other package, and this was around Silverstone, we know and they know DDRS wont be as beneficial everywhere.

Looks like the FW's cascades (the 'peace one day' cascades) are not connected to the front wing's main plane anymore. they're only supported by the endplates. The teems may be wants them to be fexible ?

They added two cooling outlets to the new bodywork

I give up. I cannot see any changes to the suspension, and I never fully understood what was supposedly illegal about it in the first place. Would some kind soul please direct me to illustrative before/after photos? Thanks.

why did they covered up the air slots on engine cover??

should provide more airflow and feed the diffuser with the enclosed bodywork.

DRD gone from Grosjean's car today in FP3 (and I presume the same will be for qualifying and race), both cars are running the new rear (slimmer) bodywork.

Feed showed a slow-mo with the cascade flexing quite a bit on RG during Q2.

i seriously doubt any recent upgrades brought us back into the game.

so far:

we seems to be fairly competitive on front limited cirucit as E21 has strong front end.

we also seems to be competitive over 1 lap when soft compound was there for the taking.

Just show how much faster we could've been if the tyre works in every gp for Lotus.

Updates maybe helped Lotus to hang on the front runners or even reduce the real gap, mr Kansas.
Car's top speed decreased relatively a lot since they brought the new bodywork; maybe that means the latter is helping the rear wing produce more downforce ?

i believe we were 1 sec++ off the pole sitter in silverstone eventhough romain was fitted with the new bodywork??

now we were 5 tenth off the pace.

huge gain no matter how you look at it. The track nature and tyre allocation helped us massively.

My point is, there will be more performance found if the team manage to sort out their tyre heating issues.

Thanks Blackout. That's a pretty subtle change. Not likely to be obvious in any photo.
