Lotus E21 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

RG seems to run the old bodywork in this pic and it looks like qualy because it's sunny...
That would explain why he was relatively faster than Raikkonen on the straight (if my assumption is right) but why did the team revert to this bodywork Image

I don't know when that picture was taken, they both used the new bodywork today.

if you watch carefully you can see the holes that are made to support the DRD pipes so i presume that is the DRD body work but without the DRD installed

In Germany both cars are running the slimmed down bodywork but the bodywork has been revised since Silverstone.

What's about the test in silverstone, they are not allowed to test improvements/upgrades, but what's with lotus? they have 2 bodyworks, so they may run one bodywork on Romain's and one on Kimi's... what's about that? They may gain a lot usefull data

I'm not sure I understand but they are allowed to work on balance in Silverstone with regular drivers.

"We can confirm that, as only one specification of tyre will be available for the test, it will not be necessary for the teams to satisfy us that race drivers are taking part for the sole purpose of testing tyres for the appointed tyre supplier."
I assume updates are included in that. It's potentially only one day, two with young drivers (unless it changed again  )

I mean, Lotus has already brought upgrades for Silverstone and Nurburgring race, so in the test which will be in silverstone on july 17 - 19th the teams are not allowed to put new upgrades on the cars, but lotus has reveal their upgrades before this test so they can test it in Silverstone test... they may get a real usefull info for DRD and the new bodywork, because these are not new upgrades...

Yes. The before-Silverstone one.
KR ran the new bodywork whitch, in Germany, received two addtional cooling oulets around the upper wishbone.
