Is the picture of the R31 taken during a 2011 race event? I do not rmemebre lotus running extra roll hoop inlets in 2011 - they had small ones in 2010 for f-duct and much bigger ones for drd in 2012-13. What were these inlets for in 2011? gearbox cooling?

EDIT : found some pictures from winter testing 2011

New 'more robust' rear view mirrors (above) for better visibility

Raikkonen in this pic runs with a floor with the old straight fin near the rear tires (the new one is curved)... maybe works better with the '2012' tires

Might those mirrors enhance the vortex passing above the sipod too ?

I was said "the team has been asked by FIA to try that size and shape out for future standard part."

So, are they going to drop these mirrors for Q and race?
Fernando Alonso is the best pay-to-drive driver in F1 with the biggest amount of money behind him.

As i said on Twitter to you, its all a test by the FIA as they are looking at increasing rear visibility with a standard part manufactured to the same specs by an outside supplier or present F1 team (Like the MES ECU/Side Impact Structures) with drivers being able to move them 150mm down the chassis from a stated point. It was a point raised by the GPDA to the FIA and is the reason that Mercedes have been the first to move to the rearward facing tyre temp monitors as the new wing mirrors will have no electronics housed in them. However there is a GPDA idea that the blue LED from the MES Display is placed into the mirror as well.

However there is a idea the the blue flag rules may be changed that do many things like drivers allowing faster cars past on a straight, cars that are 5 seconds in-front of the faster car wont have DRS activated until the faster car is 5 seconds up the road. However the slower car will then be no longer obliged to scamper off in the corners, he can take precedence.

Its all about trafic management and the fact that the GPDA have seen 3 or 4 specific points that can improve F1 safety. They also have got 3-4 other points in order to quicken up F1 SC race restarts as well.

All these are in preparation for a change to the regs for 2015 or 2016, as the FIA always work 2-3 years ahead most of the time.

BTW, I wasn't here for quite a while so to me this rear wing looks new: curvature int the middle of the main plate, teh significantly bigger upper plate... correct me if I'm wrong.

Exhaust comparion:

2nd picture comparison above is better for rake comparison :P Its incredible that Lotus can run such a low car and still be as fast as a car that does the opposite, how is that even possible ?
