the thing that amazes me here is that anyone should say that mercedes have the best qually car
surely it depends on the characteristics of the track ...eg the RBR traction out of slow corners making it best at one type of track , the mercedes higher top speed making it better at another ? and so on and so forth
being pedantic ,I doubt that the perfect lap ever happens , and hungary is a good example of that ; you can't do your best possible time in each sector on the same lap ...if you do it in sector 1 then the tyres will start to give up in sector 3 ; so a driver will always feel he left something behind ...if you look at hamilton's lap you will see understeer on the last 2 corners , no doubt some other drivers had slower 1st sectors and better tyres in sector 3
many years ago stirling moss beat the 190bhp ferrari's in his 150bhp lotus at the old nurburgring ; taffy trips said afterwords that with his ferrari he got maybe 8-10 corners correct out of the 72 , but moss got every corner right , every lap ; not to be taken literally methinks
the other thing that strikes me here is the comments relating hitting every apex to the perfect lap ; I am sure we could all hit every apex ...if we drove slowly enough
