Eh? Hulkenberg had nothing to gain by taking the seat. The best 2014 seat available to him is the Lotus one and they've already said they want him but can't afford him without the phantom Quantum money. Step into the seat at 48 hours notice alongside Grosjean on top form and he can only end up harming his chances of finding any seat for 2014.
Just look at D'Ambrosio last season, stepping into the Lotus at short notice and being a second off the pace.

If the Quantum money happened to materialise, Hulk gets the seat. If not, and the majority believe it won't, Maldonado gets it. Simple as that unfortunately.
