Every cloud has a silver lining.
Yes, let's celebrate more than half the grid being in the sport because of the size of their chequebooks rather than driving skill.
Di Resta didn't provide enough of either to be worth retaining thankfully.
And when the apparent forum number one fav Hulkenburg finds himself in the cold, what then?
It's an absolutely ludicrous situation we are looking at next year, yes, there's always been pay drivers, but the sheer number of them, and in some cases, dangerous lack of experience, is going to damage the sport massively.
The sport needs to change, and stop giving all it's money to CVC. That Maldonado can beat a driver like Hulk to a prime seat is a damning indictment of the state things are in. That he could easily find himself out of the sport, along with Perez, Di Resta and talented young guys like Bird and Da Costa that aren't even going to get a look in, while we get to watch Sirotkin and Chilton and the like burn their way through Daddies / corrupt shady government money is ludicrous.
