so I´d think Sauber is either Perez or Maldonado.

leaves Hulk with only FI as an option?
I don't think Sauber will drop Hulk, especially with more and more talk that Ferrari paid them off.

We should remember that he doesn't speak for himself. He speaks for the sponsors. He shouldn't be bashed for being ungrateful or full of himself. If he says Williams aren't good enough for him, it should be understood as Williams aren't good enough for his sponsors so he must go elsewhere with them to have better representation in the sport.
Pastor has to play to the tune of his government and sponsors. He is indeed right; he needs to go to a better team.
Whoever he is speaking for needs to learn some manners and respect after all his outbursts this weekend.

What are the chances of Perez going back to Sauber? With Hulk already there, Sauber would look pretty good for 2014.

you should read the statements coming from Monisha Kaltenborn ....
asked if she could imagine retaining Hulkenberg her answer was :I have a broad imagination .But she also said there are many many capable drivers out there with considerable budgets and this will be deciding as they need the money and she remarked that they had to pay money to keep hulk from going to Lotus .That does not sound like Sauber is in a position to keep Hulk if he wants to stay....sadly.
this goes in line with swiss media reprting a tense relationship with Hulk since he went public with his open payments -as this was a contributor to their public difficulties in the middle of the season .This was humilating for Peter Sauber and very untypical for a swiss company .I think this will not be forgotten in Hinwil no matter how good the results have been lately.
I think they hope to get Perez back reviving the good times with him .

It's a question of which driver can amass the biggest budget.

Things might have been embarrassing for Sauber, but that is the way things are right now. Lotus's so-called new backers are not going to come up with any hard cash so it's all a game of interplay about money right now. Unless Alonso moves on this might leave Hulkenberg out in the cold.

BBC Sport's chief F1 writer Andrew Benson in Austin:
"The febrile and unpredictable driver market has been one of the main topics of conversation here this weekend. Nico Hulkenberg, who had been in contention at Lotus, now appears to be certain to move to Force India - Lotus have admitted they 'can't afford him'. That in theory should leave the way clear for Pastor Maldonado to go to Lotus, whose investment deal with the mysterious Quantum Motorsport has still not been completed - and no-one thinks it will be. But Maldonado's backers are concerned about the potential of their £30m disappearing down a black hole and are apparently asking for some form of guarantee that it won't. Sauber, meanwhile, are also keen on Maldonado. He'll end up at one of those teams. Sergio Perez, jettisoned by McLaren, is likely to end up at Force India or possibly return to Sauber. And it looks like there will be no place in F1 for Scot Paul Di Resta."

Yes, let's celebrate more than half the grid being in the sport because of the size of their chequebooks rather than driving skill.

Di Resta didn't provide enough of either to be worth retaining thankfully.

And when the apparent forum number one fav Hulkenburg finds himself in the cold, what then?

It's an absolutely ludicrous situation we are looking at next year, yes, there's always been pay drivers, but the sheer number of them, and in some cases, dangerous lack of experience, is going to damage the sport massively.

The sport needs to change, and stop giving all it's money to CVC. That Maldonado can beat a driver like Hulk to a prime seat is a damning indictment of the state things are in. That he could easily find himself out of the sport, along with Perez, Di Resta and talented young guys like Bird and Da Costa that aren't even going to get a look in, while we get to watch Sirotkin and Chilton and the like burn their way through Daddies / corrupt shady government money is ludicrous.

Hulkenberg looks like staying in the F1 warmth due to an excess of talent.

As for Sam Bird, he'll be 27 by the start of next season and has never won a championship in his career. What has he done to deserve an F1 seat?

An excess of talent that might just take him back to Force India, if he's really lucky they might be able to pay him, but I wouldn't count on it.

I don't buy into the whole 'he's a future world champion' love in myself, but he's unquestionably good, and that he's scrabbling around looking for a drive as he is doing is terrible.

As for Bird, just an example, but probably a lot more than Chilton, Sirotkin, Van der Garde and co.

The same Van Der Garde who won Renault 3.5?

He is 'Quantum Motorsports'. If they turn out to be what they say they are then Hulkenberg will get the Lotus seat, but plenty have written them off.

More smoke and mirrors. This deal is not happening.

Mansoor Ijaz is a high-rate conman. I WANT Hulk to get the Lotus drive. But knowing Ijaz's history I'm afraid I don't think it will happen.
