And then there's the America's Cup angle:

Any thoughts or further information about that?
For me it is hard to believe, because I thought, at least, Sebastian Vettel extended his contract until the end of 2015!?
This is also what I heard. Then the following tweet says "Could both be off to Ferrari in 2015"Harsha wrote:I think in 2012 December time Both Horner and Newey extended their contracts and same did by SV.
So i really dont think its true unless We get the official Confirmation
I think Kamui should get a drive with Caterham in 2014 and then join Mclaren Honda in 2015.SectorOne wrote:With the Koba thing he´s sort of kept the door open.
"Caterham have contacted Kamui Kobayashi over a drive for next season. More to follow in the coming days"
"There have now been actual discussions between Kobayashi and the caterham team. They happened sometime last week"
"Talks between Kobayashi and caterham are in advanced stages. A contract is being discussed"
And the door open:
"No real speculation on the marussia seat is there.. Thats an obvious one.. Caterham should be VDG and Kamui/Heikki"
Herr Mateschitz made him a well-off man - Larry Ellison could make him a wealthy one.I very much doubt that he currently has any interest in leaving RBR for AC.
With a rumoured £6m per year salary at Red Bull, Newey is already a very wealthy man.Gridlock wrote:Herr Mateschitz made him a well-off man - Larry Ellison could make him a wealthy one.I very much doubt that he currently has any interest in leaving RBR for AC.
Kamui was impressive for half a season in 2009 and mediocre for the rest of his time in F1, I think Mclaren have hired enough mediocre drivers in the last 5 years.CHT wrote:I think Kamui should get a drive with Caterham in 2014 and then join Mclaren Honda in 2015.SectorOne wrote:With the Koba thing he´s sort of kept the door open.

I wont call any driver that could pull an overtaking stun on Alonso be mediocre. Reason for Mclaren to sign Kamui will be for commercial reason because of Honda.Cold Fussion wrote:Kamui was impressive for half a season in 2009 and mediocre for the rest of his time in F1, I think Mclaren have hired enough mediocre drivers in the last 5 years.CHT wrote:I think Kamui should get a drive with Caterham in 2014 and then join Mclaren Honda in 2015.SectorOne wrote:With the Koba thing he´s sort of kept the door open.

Caterham already have a one lap specialist in Van Der Garde (presuming he stays alongside an 'experienced' paid driver) and Kobayashi's not going to provide much excitement, if as seems likely they are still trundling around at the back.SectorOne wrote:Kobayashi is quite handy over one lap and provides some brilliant entertainment.
He also finished only 6 points behind a guy that was deemed so impressive that he got a Mclaren contract.
He was on massively newer tyres, It's hard to call an overtake under such conditions stunning.CHT wrote: I wont call any driver that could pull an overtaking stun on Alonso be mediocre. Reason for Mclaren to sign Kamui will be for commercial reason because of Honda.
The Mclaren signing of Perez was an eyebrow raiser for everyone, few really believed Perez really belonged in the Mclaren.SectorOne wrote:Kobayashi is quite handy over one lap and provides some brilliant entertainment.

Not really, Perez stood out among the newer drivers by quite some margin.Cold Fussion wrote:The Mclaren signing of Perez was an eyebrow raiser for everyone, few really believed Perez really belonged in the Mclaren.
exactly. somehow there's a deal to give magnussen a seat for 2014 and somehow they have to get him a seat. the deal with marussia didn't work somehow, and i guess caterham was out of the picture aswell. leaving them with no option but to give him the MCL seat. which is completely rediculous indeed and a big big big fail in management.SectorOne wrote:Not really, Perez stood out among the newer drivers by quite some margin.Cold Fussion wrote:The Mclaren signing of Perez was an eyebrow raiser for everyone, few really believed Perez really belonged in the Mclaren.
Hulkenberg showed promise but not anywhere near what Perez did. Brazil just put a lid on that one as well.

I understand Mclaren wanting a driver that instantly is faster/better then Button but giving a new driver a dog then toss him out because you f´d up with some handshaking with another team is just ridiculous when you think about it.
That´s really the only reason he´s out from Mclaren, Martin f´d up.
