Lotus E22 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I uses to work in the IT dept of a Large British Defence contractor and we had acronym overload to the point that some acronyms meant different things depending on wether you were talking about a defence project or IT subject.

So of course we had an acronym for that too....

ARE

Acronym Rich Environment

:D
You know you're using too many acronyms when you have an acronym for them :D

You're not wrong!

It was a pun based on the military acronym TRE or Target Rich Environment :D

I never said the nose WAS better, I said IF. As far as changing the nose, it can be done as I remember I think the MP4/27 changing mid season. It went from a nice curve down to a flat nose. And If it was the MP4/27, the change worked and it ended the season the best car on the grid.
If teams wanted to change just the nose cone, do they need every nose cone crash tested ?

If there are structural changes, i.e. in the impact absorbing structure, is mandatory, if they change just the vanity panel, no.

Thankyou. So another team probably wont be able to get one to Jerez. But the will be able to take something for Bahrain, and try it out at the same time as Lotus. All while Lotus will maybe only be doing a shakedown for a few days in Bahrain. So surely this is not what Lotus are launching with. Its just a fake to get others thinking and wasting time exploring the same idea.

I'm not convinced these more abruptly ending side pods are better than Mclarens smooth flowing pods. We shall see.

Seeing the new Lotus car for the first time a lady in our local forum exclaimed: "It's a girl!" :)

Something is wrong !! FW of Lotus looks so small and slim... maybe because she's a young tiny girl?

Now seriously why Lotus wing is so small compared with McLaren?

The lotus is a straight top down picture, the mclaren has a bit of perspective to it, so the back looks smaller and the wing looks bigger.

i think is not the real car, but just a joke for Lotus.

on the second picture, some parts, on the top of front wing is strange.

and, it's like a photoshop thing.
