Just to make sure everybody is on the same page:
The middle of the nose actually is too high. If this were to be a normal nosecone, it would be illegal.
However, Mercedes used the same solution as Lotus: The lotus "tusks" are the same as Mercedes' "Pylons"", in other words, except for a small area that connects to the front wing neutral section, the pylons are infact nose/crash structure. One pylon 51mm shorter then the other. This way they avoid the single section rule. Mercedes however made smart use of the vanity panel to make the pylons identical, which is essential for the airflow structures coming off the pylons to be symmetrical on both sides
I made a better drawing of it:
Pink is the crash structure/nose, with grey being the pylons connecting the crash structure to the FW main plane, and orange being the vanity panel. I'm not 100% sure how mercedes exactly integrated the vanity panel. It could be completely like in the drawing, but it could also be the vanity stretches from the pylon completely over the middle of the tip of the nose.
This is a rather conservative approach to the idea. I expect more crash area between the pylons to be removed throughout the season.
