Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I wonder why they use the neon free flow vis, which details out exactly what is happening, while other teams use the UV flow vis which isn't quite as bright and obvious to prying eyes? Not that we can't see what's happening in each scenario, but one is way more visible to journalists and prying eyes from other teams.

No, they'll be keeping the throttles open as far as they can and using the turbo unit to harvest energy, hence the 'hot blowing' type noise.

Of the 97 laps Nico did, how many tyre change, and compounds did they use? Do we have a data on that? Interesting drivers weren't complaining about tyre performance

All these carbon pieces of a puzzle, are there 1)as past seasons 2)due to new internal packaging 3)maybe we'll see changes (i.e. cooling) in future?

EDIT: i recall only the (cooling purpose) piece under #KeepFightingMichael,

We haven't done a direct comparison with last year's tyres
...The teams informed us about 'skipping' in their simulations (is it correct?when you have too much torque but lack of grip to 'use' it) even in 4th & 5th gears...[due to the reduced (rear) downforce levels] we made tyres with softer compounds and a more resistent construction

I played around with one of the pictures. It's still not perfect, but you can make out some of the details. Maybe our experts here can see something, despite this being an early configuration that will no doubt change before the first race.

In pictures 5 and 6 that forza kindly posted, you can clearly see the car leaning through the corners.
I have not seen this behaviour as pronounced as I have on the mercedes lineage starting with the W02.

I get your point. As i look closer i believe that this is just a change in camber. the car itself seems to stay horizontal while the wheels are angled. Maybe they improved the suspension in a way that keeps the car aero stable but now also helps the tires in an innovative way.

Last night on Sky Sports F1 (sorry if I misunderstood something in the process) :
1. Nico stated that Tuesday night they went to Brackley in order to repair the broken FW (and even reinforced it, we say) and then get back to Jerez on Wednesday morning at 6AM.
2. Ted said that Paddy Lowe complained him coz W05 is a little bit overweight ...

On a different note, had Mercedes asked me to chime in on the livery, here's what the W05 could have ended up with:
