Mercedes AMG F1 W05

I thought cars were only allowed to carry 100KG of fuel MAX? If they are still holding out on the final 2000RPMs of the engine then they can probably go that distance on a full tank.

No they are allowed to carry as much as they like. They can only use 100kg from lights out to chequered flag, this is monitered by the FIA fuel flow monitors.

What ? I thought they are only allowed 100kg fuel from outlap, formation , race and in lap?
Anyone can show me a link to confirm it? Can't find anywhere anything about 100 kg from lights to race end only

Yes, it's 100Kg from lights to flag, monitored by the FIA and teams in realtime via a fuel flow monitor. Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports explained in one of his Notebook programmes. He said teams will typically carry 105kg to get through installation and parade laps.

Anyone else think the number should be moved down to the nose?

They also need to make sure they have enough for a fuel sample after the race, though it is only 1 liter

Can they store the extra fuel above 100kg in a seperated compartment, to make sure they don't use it during the race?

The number has to fit on the chassis and not on the detachable nose cone because if the driver has to come into the pits to change the front wing due to let's say a "Maldonado" for example, they need to have one that doesn't have his teammates number. And the front nose cone ends right before that antenna in front of the number

Quite certain this a similar to what BAR did a few years back, although they were using it for ballast and running the car underweight. I'm quite certain that would be frowned upon at least.

BAR got a two race ban because they tried to claim the fuel residue left in the various lift pumps and plumbing was part of the weight of the car as it couldn't be used.
FIA threw that out as meant they were actually running an underweight car once the remaining fuel was removed!!!

A quick check of the regs would suggest no.
