Not only the intercooler but also the engine radiator has the same solution and that`s the reason why Ferrari's new cooling system is more efficient, thus they could tighten up their sidepods ...scarbs wrote:Other Tech directors were fairly sure that Ferrari running water-to-air intercoolers and that Ferrari werent alone in that respect.
Aren't engine radiators water/air? Normally?atanatizante wrote:Not only the intercooler but also the engine radiator has the same solution and that`s the reason why Ferrari's new cooling system is more efficient, thus they could tighten up their sidepods ...scarbs wrote:Other Tech directors were fairly sure that Ferrari running water-to-air intercoolers and that Ferrari werent alone in that respect.
But there is a catch: if you look back in 2012 at Mercedes W02 (if I`m not wrong) they also have had a slick side-pods shape by adopting a double decked radiator solution (yeah just air-to-air) from that US company and they`ve got a lot of overheating problems, isn`t it?
And another issue of this water-to-air solution is that you end up with more weight ...
My bad, I'm not native english speaker and didn't undestand properly... So it is the sidepod shape what he is talking about, right?Crucial_Xtreme wrote:muelte wrote:Not exactly an idea from RedBull (or a signal of cooling problems) It was there last year as well:

He wasn't talking about the cooling vents, he was talking about the inward slant of the sidepods in the area of those advertisements.
No worries mate. Yes he's referring to the sidepods just above the logo's. If you notice starting from the logo's at the floor the Sidepod slants towards the middle of the car. Last year there was a bit of an undercut there but this year it's overcut, which is a RB trait.muelte wrote:

In thsi picture the trademark overcut shoulder shape of rb5-rb9 is more evident.Forza wrote:Jerez - Pre-season Test 1 - Day 4
mercedes also I would sayFroggolo wrote: 2) shouldn't be the nose tip by regulations ahead the front wing leading edge? because F14-t seems to be the only car
to have it inward the front wing leading edge
thankyou!
Allison said they are working on a more aggressive solution for Bahrain (chances are it could easily be something like Merc with him knowing how Lotus got around rules), so maybe they'll even show up with a third solution in Australia...muelte wrote:Well, I suppose they expect to get lots of air going under the nose and to tea tray, just not mainly from the 'mouth' as before but also from around the nose cone. There are some drawings of this concept. Probably the high chassis is still better in achieving this, at least under their global design.
Anyway, I expect Ferrari to somehow copy Mercedes nose 'trick' to get a slightly higher and bigger mouth and get more airflow there.
