Is it true that the 2104 transmissions have a fixed ratios? I mean they are going to use the same rations in Monaco and Monza?

Some tracks they will use all, other tracks they won't. As I understand it the engines power band is over a much wider rev range in comparison to the peaky V8's, so getting gears bang on so that you always stay at the right point of the power curve isn't such an issue.

In my opinion it doesn't do much difference. The fuel flow limited turbo engines have flat power curve at the top. BTW, this topic was discussed at length already http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... =4&t=15586

It wont be with a conventional layshaft stepped ratio box thats for sure.
If they are content to accept that as the ultimate :wink:

A lower rev limit, turbocharging, and KERS should lessen the impact of transmission gear ratios.
