Flow viz will only show the bulk effect of all the aerodynamic appendages and surface curvatures, that too only the surface streamlines. It will be very hard to re-engineer all the causes of the flow features, i.e. the aerodynamic surfaces, from the limited idea that they obtain from the effect of these surfaces, i.e. the flow viz pattern. The devil is in the details.cmehle wrote:I wonder why the teams give so much away by using a highly visible flowviz paint.
Are the same flow characteristics hard to achieve when using nearly colorless paint with e.g. UV reactive pigments?
Or is there little to gain for the other teams?
Just curious.
I had also noticed this burn, from Jerez. At first I thought it to be dirty then I found a lot of pictures.atanatizante wrote:http://i.imgur.com/6m6lqCU.jpg
That`s from yesterday rear brake issue or they use rear brake heat to seal the diffuser now?
Yeah probably brake dust since it looks to be coming from the brake duct outlet.djos wrote:It's just dirt or fine tire debris.
Nothing aerodynamically meaningful at all, i'm sure as welle30ernest wrote:Yeah probably brake dust since it looks to be coming from the brake duct outlet.djos wrote:It's just dirt or fine tire debris.
I think that's the crux of it, last year RB had to make sure of both titles and couldn't take their foot of the gas, they're now paying for it.Coefficient wrote:This car seems a bit vanilla to me whereas the McLaren makes me think they gave up on last year in January and focused on the 29. I'm sure rb will add refinement though but at the moment this shows signs of lack of time to develop due to last year's development to win the championships.

You mean that preposterous chin.gandharva wrote:At least they did a really good paint job on that nose.
